Each profession can find a special new weapon in the Shadowlands by taking the weapons of the opposing faction and turning them to their own ends. This is a two stage process and you can just upgrade the weapons once and leave it at that or upgrade them with the special turn spirits that the yuttos sell and make your turn spirit weapon.

Stage One - Inamorta and Sacrosanct weapons

These weapons drop off of sided faction mobs in the Shadowlands and come with no special attacks at all. There is a type of weapon for every attack skill and depending on which side you are looking for they might even have different names so lets go through the possibilities

The drops are totally random so it may take quite a while to find the weapon that you are looking for in particular, but they are not NODROP so can be traded / bought. As already mentioned these weapons have no special attacks which of course limits their usefulness in combat. However there is a way to grant them special attacks.

Dropping from mobs (particularly boss mobs) across the Shadowlands you will find items called Grey Glyphs, each named after some of the faction leaders from the redeemed and unredeemed factions. These glyphs can be added to certain of the faction weapons to add the relevant special attack so lets look at which each glyph does

Now taking a look down that list you might think it cool to add say Aimed Shot to your Blaster or something like that but unfortunately that isn't the case, not all the weapons can use all the upgrades, in fact many can only use one.

The process itself requires some pretty steep skills though, so you'll need to be (or know) a decent tradeskiller to get a QL200+ one made - The full skills are:

• 6xQL of the weaponry in Weaponsmithing
• 5xQL of the weapon in Electrical Engineering
• 4xQL of the weapon in Quantum Physics

Once complete you will have your finished spirit tech weapon ready for use.

Stage Two - Turn Spirit Weapons

Now for the next stage you need to pay a visit to your local friendly yuttos vendors in the Shadowlands. You will notice that they sell an expensive item that is called a Turn Spirit Pouch, buying it, then opening it will reveal a random turn spirit.

The turn spirit given out by any pouch used to be dechiperable by its QL, but patch 15.5.5 changed it to purely random so now its just a case of buying your pouch and crossing your fingers! You can of course trade your spirits as well so its not quite as bad as it sounds.

The turn spirit has to be within 20% of the weapon you are looking to convert and the weapon must have the correct glyphs already applied before you apply the turn spirit. So if your profession specific weapon has burst you must have added the relevant glyph to your Inamorta / Sacrosanct weapon first.

Actually using the turn spirit requires minimal (or no) tradeskills, but it does make the final weapon no drop so be aware that you can't do it for a friend! The weapons go all the way up to QL300 and whether they are useful for your profession when compared to other weapons is debatable so take a look for yourself. Note these are the QL300 versions, the ultimate weapons, some of the weapons up to 299 have slightly different names. Given that the tradeskill involved in attaching a glyph in preperation would reach 1800 for the QL300 items its not going to be easy to find someone capabale of assembling such a weapon (if indeed there are any yet - mathematically it is *possible* though)

Conclusion

Some of the Turn Spirit Weapons are very good (and all excel on Rubi-Ka) but in the high end Shadowlands zones where mobs have high ACs some of the profession weapons here suffer from low minimum damage rendering them worse then many other available choices. Therefore it depends greatly which profession you are and what level of weapon you are looking to make.

At lower levels these weapons (if you can afford the price on the Turn Spirit pouch) can make for very nice weapons and for some professions they are the best available weapon.

They are very hard to get all the parts for, assemble and pay for though and whether that effort is worth it to you is very much a matter of taste.
