| Main | So Shadowlands is open now eh? Well how exactly do you get to this strange new realm that is just waiting to be explored. Well the key to the Shadowlands is the mysterious city of Jobe, it is portals on Jobe that have opened the gateways to the Shadowlands itself. Jobe is also a thriving city in itself.
So how do I get there? The easiest way to get to Jobe is via the Whompa network, just as if you were traveling to any other destination on Rubi-Ka. Three whompa stations have been set up to bring residents of Rubi-Ka to Jobe. You can find them in the following locations:
Passing through any of these whompas will bring you out in Jobe Platform. Jobe is not aligned to any particular faction so clanners, neutrals and Omni-Tek employees alike can all access the city of Jobe without any problems. It is strictly neutral ground, and the factions are not allowed to engage in any form of hostilities at all. From the platform you will have access to any of the three floating islands that make up Jobe - the three Islands are as follows:
Getting around Jobe The city of Jobe floats in thin air high above Rubi-Ka, be careful around the edges as it is possible to fall off the edge and tumble down to Rubi-Ka below (note you won't actually die usually, just appear somewhere on Rubi-Ka). Each of the Islands has a series of facilities to help you on your travels:
Heavenly Business: This is your local Jobe tradeskill vendor - everything you have come to expect from the tradeskill sections of the shops on Rubi-Ka can be found here. Dimensional Shift: This is where you can find everything for your medical and Implant needs. This shop will be important as you will want to pick up some spindles and coils to replace your stims and treatment kits - remember the traditional means of healing do not work in the Shadowlands! Hardware Dimension: This is where you will find your armor, attacks and weapons vendors as well as a basic tools vendor
Independent Professionals Society: This is where you find the nano formula vendors on Jobe - don't forget to stop by and check out any new nano formulas that may be available for your profession! Jobe Real Estate: This is where you can get yourself an apartment in Jobe, so if you need a place to crash make sure you pay them a visit! There are two different real estate offices on each island one for regular apartments and one for luxury pads (note only those that pre-ordered Shadowlands got luxury apartments). You can see which door is which by clicking on the door and your target will display whether it is a luxury or regular entrance. There also a host of other NPC's wandering around, some are selling their wares so make sure you take a good look around you never know what you might find, or what quests you might get started on. Using the portals and getting to Shadowlands! Well, that's what you are here for isn't it? To travel into the Shadowlands and seek out adventure and riches beyond your wildest dreams? So you will be wanting to make a bee-line for the portals that actually take you from Jobe to the Shadowlands. There is one portal on each island. Each goes to a different location in the Shadowlands.
It's not entirely that straight forward though - if you are aligned to either the clans or Omni-Tek the scientists that are maintaining the portals are charging the factions to use the portal. Speak to the portal technician beside the portal and he will explain that they need a an amount of credits. Give them what they need and they will enable you for travel to the Shadowlands. Just follow his instructions and you will soon be energized with the nano that allows you access - it lasts for several hours so there isn't any real rush. Remember returning to Jobe isn't always easy so make sure you are stocked up before you go! You can then just pass through the portal to your required destination. Note that you won't always have to pay this fee - there are numerous quests and such that allow you permanent access to the Shadowlands. Other Routes You can also take part in the Ergo Ring Quest from Rubi-Ka which will take you in the Yuttos camp in Melting pot in Eastern Elysium. Alternatively once you have your Garden Keys from the Shadowlands there are some transit statues hidden around Rubi-Ka that will allow you to port directly to the Shadowlands Gardens. One can be found not far from Ergo in the south west of Wailing Wests, another not far from Last Ditch in Stret West bank and lastly near the Omni outpost of 10-3. All you need to do is click your key on the statue and viola! Instant Shadowlands access. |
