You may have noticed that many creatures in Shadowland’s drop the remains of ill-fated adventurers who came to an untimely end at the creatures hands! These ‘half digested body parts’ can drop from any monster mob in the Shadowlands and hold the possibility of providing you with a slightly worn (but never the less useable) implant. Providing you are not to squemish then you might just find a gem or two amongst the limbs that the monsters of the Shadowlands have...eh...liberated from their original owners.

The type of implants that can be found depends on the type of body part dropped:

• Half Digested Human Arms – Right or Left Arm Implant
• Half Digested Human Hands and Wrists – Right or Left Wrist or hand Implant
• Half Digested Human Head - Eye, Brain or Ear Implant
• Half Digested Human Legs and Feet – Feet or Leg Implant
• Half Digested Human Torso – Chest or Waist Implant

The Implant type from those possible as listed above is purely random.

Getting at the Implant

In their base form these Half Digested body parts only provide a percentage chance of providing an intact implant. No one has quite figured out what stat may or may not affect this percentage chance (as there is no message other the generic success or failure messages) or it may just be a straight percentage chance, regardless of statistics.

To attempt to release the implant just right click on the body part when in your inventory. If successful the implant will appear and you will get a success message. Likewise if you fail, a message will appear in your chat window informing you of the failure.

There is a way to ensure you get an implant, but it’s not the cheapest of options…

Cleaning the Body Parts

In order to ensure a 100% chance of getting the implant out of the body part you need to use a Bio-Communicator on it. This is the same device used to convert monster parts to plasma and is available in any shop tradeskill section on Rubi-Ka.

A word of warning though, using the Bio-com on the body part destroys the Bio-com in the process and these devices are not the cheapest device to purchase so whether this process is worthwhile is very much up to you.

Applying the Bio-com to the body part will result in a ‘Sanctified and Cleaned’ body part. This can then be right clicked to provide you with a guaranteed implant. This process seems to take x3 the QL of the body part in Chemistry (but that might be a bit off as I didn’t test too many because my bank balance was bemoaning the cost of the bio-coms!)

So what do I get?

The implant type and which clusters are attached are purely random, however they do have a redeeming factor in that they commonly include the Jobe clusters. This means that on occasion you can actually find some pretty nice implants that would be otherwise pretty hard to make. It’s hardly common enough to make it worthwhile setting out to purposefully find any given implant, but it is well worth breaking open the body parts to see what you get, especially on the higher end parts.

Overall

This rather bizarre (and slightly macabre) process is one of those overlooked parts of Anarchy Online that once in a while might just make your day. As mentioned above I wouldn’t recommend that you ever go out camping to try and find the body parts in the hope that your perfect QL250 refined Jobe cluster just happens to drop as to be blunt it is blind luck and given the possible number of implant combinations, the chances of getting one you might actually need are slim indeed.

However it is worth at least opening the body part to see what the lucky implant lottery has in store for you!
