This guide is designed to give you an overview of the area that makes up Adonis and the various quests and areas that you will come upon during your time in this zone. First off - a map of the entire area that should help you find you bearings. The first thing of importance about this zone is that a vast section of it is underwater! This presents a problem for newcomers to the zone in that the water in toxic and you have to pass through it to navigate the areas. Before getting into all that though, you might want to take a look at a map of the area, click the image below to visit an excellent Shadowlands map site put together by Ainur.
There are two routes into Adonis. You can take the portal from Scheol once you have completed the progression quest in that zone or once you are in Scheol or Adonis beyond the permanent garden keys can give you instant access to the Scheol gardens (but more about garden quests later) However lets deal with the front way in first as for the first time visitor it can be quite a shock. When you zone in from Scheol you will appear in front of a huge statue with a door at its base. Head across the narrow walkway to the door and enter through it.
You will find yourself in an interior area - follow the large doors through until you find yourself in front of an oval door that looks a little like an airlock - it looks that way because it is one! Don't enter this door yet!! On the other side you will find yourself under water and the water has the effect of slowing you down and affecting you with a 500 pt DoT effect, whilst the passage isn't all that long, you will need some form of healing to make it to the other side, if you are a character with low HP's this may mean you need to bring a doc or other healer along with you. If you are under level 200 there are also mobs in this short passage that may aggro you - Adonis is not an easy zone to even get in (let alone hunt in) unless you are of a very high level. If you manage to navigate the underwater passage you will find yourself in Adonis city. Given the treacherous means of entry your first priority will be to find a way to make that passage easier! Thankfully there is a way, you will want to find yourself some of the rather funky breathing apparatus that a certain Yuttos can provide for you. Note that since the 15.2 patch it is no longer necessary to actually do the following quests as simply being over level 130 will mean that the Ergo in Scheol will simply hand over your Metawater gear and your Rimy Ring. Metawater Repellent Spiritech Suit ( Scuba Gear ) The metawater suit should be your first priority if you are serious about spending time in Adonis on a regular basis. So how do you find it? Well it all sounds very easy: Step 1 : You need to find and talk to a yuttos called Milliner; give him 100 creds and ask him about the "Millinery Business". The image below shows you exactly where you can find him at.
Then after a little chat he gives you a note to take to Finding Serenity, another Yuttos. "A message to Finding Serenity". Step 2 : Take this note to Serenity, who is right by you close to Milliner and chat a while, he basically asks you to come back with 6 x Canine Teeth. The mob you need to kill to find these teeth is called a 'Nasty Canine', but its not quite as easy as just finding one (is it ever?). What you then need to do is locate a "Stray-Dog", there are a few locations around Adonis and they're pretty easy to find, but take a look at the map above for some locations.. Kill the Stray-Dog and then a group of three Pack Dog's together with a Leader of the Pack appear. Kill the Leader and then a Nasty Canine will follow. Once you've killed that, she should, hopefully drop you a tooth, usually drops 1-3 tooth's, so depending on how many of you there are, it shouldn't take long to get the six teeth that you need. The dogs do hit hard though so be prepared. Step 3 : Once you have the 6 teeth go back to Finding Serenity and trade him the six teeth ( no need to chat again ). He will give you an "Invoice for a Metawater Repellent Spiritech Suit". Take this to Milliner and trade it to him and in return he will give you the suit. Ergo and Progression Each zone in the Shadowlands has a quest associated with it to progress to the next set of zones. In this case you need to complete a quest in order for Ergo to allow you progress to Penumbra. First though you will have to find the little guy in his Adonis home. NOTE: This quest is no longer compulsory and anyone over level 160 can just chat to Ergo in Adonis and get the ring and protective gear for Penumbra automatically. So where do you find Ergo? Well in Adonis its every bit as tricky as it was in Scheol - and this time its underwater so you'll want the metawater suit before attempting to find him. Take a look at the map, and providing you can navigate the underwater sections you should be able to find his cavern without too much hassle. As always Ergo needs a list of parts that can be found around the area, and as always, its not exactly straightforward. This time up he is looking for:
You'll need a letter from him this time though for the Calibrated Palladium Alloy so no just collecting the parts first this time - you will need to visit him. Finding the Parts 2 x Palladium Filaments 2 x Deuterium Collectors To get the Deuterium Collectors keep killing these parasites, they tend to drop more frequently on the "boss" mob. Not really a boss, but tougher than the others. Although they aren't that much harder you will notice the names are different. Given you need two per person it may take a while for a full team to get all the parts they need. 1 x Sunburst CF Electrolyte Base The item can drop from anything in the dungeon including chests so scour everything - shouldn't take you long to find what you need. 1 x Calibrated Palladium Alloy Trace Base To spawn the good doctors you need to kill the dungeon boss called Lollygagger.
Once Lollygagger has been dispatched the two doctors will spawn.
Trade the letter Ergo gave you to Dr Pons and he will hand over a Palladium Alloy Calibration Device, give this device to the other Doctor and he will tell you that he needs you to provide him with three assorted metal dusts. To find this dust you need to kill Dusty Golems that will now have spawned in the lower level on the dungeon - they spawn when you trade the device to Fleischman. Now this spawn hasn't worked quite right since Shadowlands launched, at the moment they all spawn near the door to the dungeon. Now given that the dungeon isn't like a mission and unique to you or your team you may find that someone else has triggered the golems already, or Lollygagger isn't up etc, so be prepared to be patient. Either way once you get the dust, return to Flesichman (depending on how long it took, or if you did in parts you may have to spawn him again) and he will give you the final part Ergo needs. Whilst in the dungeon though be sure to try and find the spider type mobs and pick up an item called the 'curse of the watcher' - do not leave the dungeon without it, you'll need it later! The Final Test Speak to the floating orb in the by now familiar fashion and he will inform you that a final test is required (surprise, surprise), and an item called the 'Mark of the Watcher' will appear in your inventory. ![]() As always there is help at hand with the final encounter - remember that 'curse of the watcher' item you picked up in the dungeon residence of the good doctors? Well when you meet the boss of the final test you'll be glad you have it.
Before you attack the Watcher: Target him and Right-click your curse. That's it, no need to pick it up or anything. You have to get fairly close, but he doesn't aggro easily so it's not much of a problem. You'll know you placed the curse correctly because you'll see an effect of purple smoke come off of him when it's correctly applied. Then attack him, with the curse in place you should take very little, if any damage, but I wouldn't waste time waiting to see how long its lasts as he hits like a certain Iann Warr when the curse isn't in place! Defeated, loot up his item and head back to Ergo. Give him the drop from the watcher, the Mark of the Watcher which you got earlier, and your +3 ring, and he will reward you with your new +5 ring appropriate for your profession:(Note there isn't a +4 ring so you jump from +3 to +5 here)
Once you have the ring you can approach the portal in the next chamber - take a look at the bottom of the portal and you will see a silverish button, take the ring and click on the button, it will flash red and transport you to Penumbra. Garden Quests As always you will want to get the access key to the garden appropriate to your faction, either the redeemed or the unredeemed. To start these quests you need to visit either the redeemed or unredeemed temples in Adonis - as always the ecclesiast and prophets start the quests off. Both quests are very similar, just a case of visiting slightly different mobs depending on the side you are aligned with, before you start its a good idea to collect a couple of insignias you will need to hop between the gardens for this quest. Odds are you have already figured out which mobs drop these insignias though. Either way you will need two or three for whichever side you are aligned to Gilthar (redeemed) or Dalja (unredeemed). Ok, insignias in hand, lets take each side in turn: Dalja Garden Quest Given how hard the progression quest can be, the garden quests are actually a calming summer stroll by comparison. As with the previous zones this is largely a 'deliver an item around the houses' affair, but to start you need to find an item that drops from certain redeemed mobs. Head to the Redeemed village in east Adonis, north-east from where you zoned into Adonis, pass through the gate and follow the path north a little. The stone altar on your left is where you will find the "Watcher Gil Hume-Wei" or "Sipious Gil Hume-Wei " that drop a Note that you will need. Ok now you need to go and find the Prophet for Adonis, this time named Prophet Man Dal. He is in a temple in Adonis Abyss, so that means another dip under the water for you! Make your way to 1898 1265 where you will find the underwater entrance to the temple. When you find the temple, zone in and head to the 2nd room, take the stairs to your left and go through a door. Turn left again and you will soon find Prophet Man Dal. Talk to him and start the quest, after getting the quest talk to him again saying you have the note. The Prophet wants you to locate a couple of Redeemed Ark artifacts by the name of an Ancient Control Panel, these are boxes that should be targeted, once you have them targeted for a few seconds the missions will complete. One is located at 2801 x 2533 in east Adonis in the brink. Take the garden exit to Dead Ends and go from there if you have a spare insignia. The panel is beneath the huge space ship parked there. The other one is located at 1670 x 3021 on the biggest island in the middle of the start of the icy area. Take a look at the map above to see for yourself. If you below level 180 be aware that the mobs around each ARK are tightly spawned and will agro, so its pretty much a case of blitzing to the panels and running for your life! Once completed, your mission will update and you will then need to return the note to a Visionary in the garden of Dalja. You might need to grab yourself another note in between as some people have reported the prophet 'eating' their letter at the first stage. Chat to the Visionary and you'll have your Garden key! Gilthar Garden Quest Same as the above really except you are obviously gunning for unredeemed mobs to find the note. Jorr-Thrak Dal and Urga-Yutt Dal Located at : 1601 x 908 Adonis City, there are two portals ( left and right ) one inside each. Once you have the note head to the redeemed village and speak to Ecclesiast Gil Jha who (like his unredeemed counterpart) will send you in search of the two ancient control panels. These are the same panels as the unredeemed quest versions so the co-ords are the same - One is located at 2801 x 2533 in east Adonis, the other one is located at 1670 x 3021 on the biggest island in the middle. Take a look at the map above to see for yourself and read above for the descriptions. Once completed, your mission will update and you will then need to return the note to a Diviner in the garden of Gilthar. You might need to grab yourself another note in between (as some people have reported the ecclesiast having the same passion for eating notes as his unredeemed counterpart). Chat to the Diviner and you'll have your Garden key! Dalja Sanctuary Quest You start the quest by visiting Visionist Bhotaar-Hes Dal (southwest of the save point in Adonis Garden). Show him your garden key and he will ask you to find a blue print of a Demon. The Pattern you are looking for is QL160 Infernal Demon. Gilthar Sanctuary Quest Same drill as the Dalja version above except that it's the Diviner in the garden that kicks of the quest. The mobs that drop the patterns are the same and it's even better for Clan as no faction hits are involved for the 100% pattern drop mobs. Ice the demon loot the diviner pattern, make that bring information back to the Diviner - viola - one Gilthar sanctuary key. Specialization Quest Mobs See our guide to the specialization quest here. The mobs you need to find for two of the quests can actually be found here, redeemed and unredeemed mobs drop parts for both tier one and tier two of the specialization quest. The mobs actually the redeemed and unredeemed villages drop parts needed for the second tier (The Girl who saw too much) as well as the third tier. If you haven't done tier two yet it probably won't take long here, and the drop rate on tier three which was initially quite low has been upped a good deal. It shouldn't take you long in the temples to get all of tier three in Adonis. Conclusion So there you have it, everything you need to start making inroads in exploring Adonis. We will update the guide as we explore more of this very elaborate zone! Have fun out there and stay as safe (and as dry) as possible! ...and Finally Huge, huge thanks to Herodotus2 for allowing us to use the material and screenshots he has collected on his superb Shadowlands forum that can be found here. The forum is a great site with stack loads of information about everything Shadowlands, this guide would not have been possible without everyone who posts there. |
