Introduction

This is a brief guide to remapping keyboard keys in Anarchy Online beyond the capabilities of the in-game interface.

This is the simplest method for changing key bindings, and the official way that is condoned by Funcom. It's hard to mess things up if you stick to using the in-game interface, because it won't allow you to do anything fatal, and there is a button for restoring default settings.

To reach the in-game interface, first press F10 to pop up the settings dialog, then click on Keyboard. Click on the function you want to change, and then press the key you want to bind to this function. Should you change your mind, there's always the restore default key at the top of the list.

This is a more powerful way to remap your AO keys. It's also completely unofficial and not supported by Funcom. All of your key bindings are stored in a configuration file that Anarchy Online reads on start-up. In a standard installation, the file is:

Note: Make a copy of this file before you make any changes to it.

The file contains many settings. The ones beginning with KEY_ are the keyboard bindings. Change the code following the given function with the code for the key you want to bind it to. See below for key codes. (The table doesn't include all keys on the keyboard, but all the ones I have been able to figure out.)
