Wailing Wastes (the old zone name was Athen Shire Expanse) lies between Athen Shire and Avalon, its a desolate zone with little apart from wide expanses of desert, as a mission location is not bad at all for those above level 40, with an advanced pharmacist close in Athen Shire at the War Academy and three clan outposts in the zone complete with cell scanners, mission booths and reclaim terminals.

How do I get there?

The closest grid point is West Athen, from there head into Athen Shire, then head due north to the War Academy, you can zone into the wastes to the left side of the academy wall.

The Dhundar Wastes outpost has Whom-Pahs to Athen and Avalon.

Locations of note
Well, the wastes is one of the most desolate zones in the game, not all that much in the way of quality real estate out there.

There are three clan outposts scattered across the zone, two relatively close to the border with Athen Shire, and they are common mission locations. None of the outposts in this zone have vendors however.

In the North East there is a lake at the end of the river, with another clan outpost close to the banks.

The ever curious Yuttos' creatures have also got a small village in the south western corner of the zone, they appear strangely familiar and will not agro on any passing adventurers.

The critters in this zone tend to range between the high teens through to the low 40s - be careful of virulent minibulls as they seem to under con badly.

In the far northern range next to the zone border with Avalon you can find Nightcrawlers in the 50-60 level range.
