Name Jack Legchopper Quest
Faction All
Approximate Level 130+
Author Silirrion
Main You have to be level 130 or above to use the rewards from this quest so that's a fairly decent guide to the required level, but you will need a good team to take down Jack himself as part of the quest so this isn't a solo quest.

This quest involves a troublesome fellow by the name of Jack Legchopper and it seems that he must have annoyed just about every profession on Rubi-Ka as there are a bunch of NPCs scattered all over the planet that will offer you a quest for a profession specific ring should you manage to kill one of the clones of Jack that can be found across Varmit Woods.

So how do you start the quest?

Each profession has an NPC that gives this quest, each can be found in a different location, and some are in locations that are troublesome to reach in the first place. The dialogue differs for each NPC, but with a little patience you will soon figure out what needs to be said to get the quest.

As always with a 'return item' style quest it's advisable to actually get the item first before activating the quest so that you don't run into any problems with the mission timer! Here is a list of the people you'll need to seek out.

  • Adventurer - Kendric Kuzio - 1550 x 1000, Deep Artery Valley - Quest Item: Jack's Head
  • Agent - Susan Furor - 1200 x 1950, Galway County - Quest Item: Proof of what happened to Joslyn
  • Bureaucrat - Nolan Deslandes - Neuters R Us, Newland City - Quest Item: Important looking briefcase
  • Doctor - Quintus Romulus -1950 x 800, The Longest Road - Foremans Office - Quest Item: DNA Sample
  • Enforcer - Bonzo -2850 x 1900, Mort - Beer and Booze Bar - Quest Item: Jack's Weapon
  • Engineer - Janella Gheron -3200 x 2300 Greater Tir County - Cyborg Barracks - Quest Item: Remains of a long lost pet
  • Fixer - Gridman -At the top of the Fixer Grid - Quest Item: Jack's Head
  • Martial Artist - Daedra Iberra -1500 x 700, Pleasant Meadows - Quest Item: Severed leg of the Grand Master
  • Meta Physicist - Elmer Ragg -1750 x 950, Mort - Quest Item: Glowing Amygdaloid Nucleus
  • Nanotechnician - Robin Raag -1750 x 850, Southern Foul Hills, Smuggler's Den - Quest Item: Glowing Amygdaloid Nucleus
  • Soldier - Captain Lewison -Reet Retreat, Stret West Bank - Quest Item: Bloodstained Dog-tag
  • Trader - Monday Kline-1300 x 900, Stret East Bank - Quest Item: Jack's Head

All the missions require you to kill one of the Legchoppers that are spread throughout Varmint Woods.

There are six spawn-points that the clones can appear at:

  • 2500 x 500
  • 2200 x 1100
  • 2800 x 2700
  • 3800 x 1000
  • 2200 x 1300
  • 4100 x 350

If you are lucky Jack will be spawned when you arrive, if not there will be a placeholder there. These are Life swappers, Body swappers, or Soul swappers.

Each spawn point has five mobs, killing any of these yields roughly a 10% chance that Jack will spawn. If he's not up your only option is to start wadding through the placeholders until he does spawn. Whilst the swappers are of a high level, at the level you'll need to be for this quest there are usually soloable, but a team makes things easier. Either way you'll need a team for Jack.

When he spawns have your team ready, he's a mean encounter make no mistake. As with most of the high end mobs on Rubi-Ka there are two tactics that are usually considered effective. The first is pets, lots of pets, if you have multiple pet professions in your team have them send the pets in and be ready to replace them as they fall.

The other is to have a powerful tank (Solider, Enforcer or Grid armoured Fixer) maintain agro on Jack, with the back up of as many docs as you have been able to muster for your team.

The one thing you want to avoid is Jack running about the place agroing on different members of the team. Try and keep him focused on either the pets or your tank.
Jack always drops one of the questing items, which means that there is roughly a 12% chance of you getting the item you are after when you kill him. He also drops some miscellaneous items that whilst not overly powerful aren't to be sneezed at.

The quest items are shared by multiple professions so it's probably a good idea to sort out who gets what before you start if you are in a team.

Return the relevant quest part to the relevant NPC for your reward:

  • Nanotechnician - Band of Beeswax
  • Engineer - Ring of Crawling Ants
  • Soldier - Band of Dog Molars
  • Trader - Ring of Magpie Tail Feathers
  • Bureaucrat - Band of Snake Skin
  • Doctor - Ring of the Dolphin Spine
  • Enforcer - Band of the Bear Claw
  • Adventurer - Ring of the Falcon Talon
  • Meta Physicist - Band of the Frog Tongue
  • Martial Artist - Ring of the Monkey Tail
  • Fixer - Curl of Weasel Whiskers
  • Agent - Ringlet of Black Panther Whiskers
As you can see from the links above whilst the stats on the rings are nice, they are not ground breaking and considering the time and risk involved its debatable whether this is a worthwhile quest or not.

That said the boosts to core ability stats are always nice for equipping armour and the like. The rest of the bonuses do seem slightly obscure for their relevant profession (Fixers get a boost to Pharmacology for example, hardly a skill most Fixers would have a use for) and many have even said that the low level rings from the Temple of the Three Winds are superior to these items, but at the very least they are handy to have in your bank if you do need to equip something.
