Antonio Stacklund has a series of decent newbie weapons for sale in the upper section of the ICC shuttleport, but even better he also sells a very neat gizmo that allows you to upgrade those weapons with parts looted from the monsters found in and around the backyard

Each weapon requires you to provide one of the different materials for the Adaptation Factory. To find out which combination you need to use to make the weapon relevant to you speak to Stacklund and he will give you a run down of which is which

Tell me more about the pistol.
You might have noticed the power supply on the pistol is underpowered. Maybe you can find a new power supply for the pistol on one of the Cargo Droids on the docks.

Tell me more about the submachine gun.
That submachine gun really needs a stock to stabilize it during burst fire. The Adaptation Factory could probably use bone plates from the Malle to the south-west to make a folding stock.

Tell me more about the shotgun.
To improve the shotgun, you need to polish the inside of the barrel. You might try looking to see if you can find materials from the Tropical Stalkers to the south-west.

Tell me more about the assault rifle.
The barrel on that assault rifle heats up quickly during firing. Some of the byproducts carried by the Waste Collectors on the docks could be used to treat the barrel, which would help alleviate the problem.

Tell me more about the rifle.
The scopes on those rifles just don't work right. I'll bet a new scope could be made with some of the optical components from the Cargo Droids on the docks though.

Tell me more about the energy weapon.
The plasma weapon just doesn't heat up the plasma enough. An extra chamber for heating up plasma might do the trick. Check the Waste Collectors on the docks, they might have a fuel chamber that could be adapted for that purpose.

Tell me more about the sword.
The cross guard of that weapon really doesn't protect you enough. A really stylish replacement might be made from the bones of one of those Leets on the beach.

Tell me more about the broadsword.
I never liked the grip on that broadsword, too slippery for my taste. The Adaptation Factory could probably make some good grip tape for it from the skin of one of the Reef Salamanders to the south-west.

Tell me more about the bat.
A really creepy way to improve that bat would be to add a reet beak whistle to it. You can find Island Reets on the beach, just feed one of their beaks into the Adaptation Factory. You might also try adapting a power supply from the Cargo Droids on the docks, that would make it a 'shockingly' powerful weapon.

Tell me more about the hammer.
The head of that hammer is none too sturdy. I'll bet the Adaptation Factory could make a replacement from some of the dense bone material in the skull of a Malle, which are found to the south-west.

Tell me more about the dirk.
Vendor Antonio Stacklund: Most people don't know that there is an injection system in those dirks. If you find some poison from the Shore Snakes on the beach, you could make a cartridge of toxins to install in the dirk.

Tell me more about the grenade launcher.
The launcher mechanism on the launcher isn't very high power. I've adapted a design from a pnuematic launcher developed by a man named Nizno, but you'll need a compression chamber from the Waste Collectors on the docks to make the conversion.

Tell me more about the bow.
That bow is a classic. I've always wanted to put a natural gut string on it though, you might try the viscera of the Rollerrats to the south-west for the materials.

Tell me more about the shield.
I've looked at the blueprints for that shield, and there is a slot for an additional chemical injector. Some bile from the Reef Salamanders to the south-west would be perfect to make an extra injector.

Antonio’s Adaptation Factory has fourteen different combinations that can each be used to upgrade the newbie weapons that he sells. The first stage is to use the factory with a part looted of the relevant mob that Stacklund points you to in order to make your upgrade part.

Spinal Section (Beach Leet) = Bone Cross Guard

Venom Sample (Shore Snake) = Venom Cartridge
Stalker Limb (stalkers)= Polishing Tool
Optical Enhancer (Droid) = Recalibrated Scope Unit
Compression Chamber (Waste Collector) = Pneumatic Compression Chamber
Fluid Sample (Waste Collector) = Chemical Tempering Fluid
Fuel Chamber (Waste Collector) = Resonating Chamber
Swatch of Salamander Skin (Reef Salamander) = Salamander Skin Grip Tape
Power Supply (Cargo Droids)= Adapted Power Supply

Once you have your part just combine it with the basic solar powered weapon of the relevant type to produce your new and improved weapon.

These weapons are very very nice weapons for low level players. If you take our advice don't leave the ICC shuttleport without grabbing your weapons!

Armor

Mr Strivkland also sells a nice collection of armors called Newcomers Armor, but the armor itself isn't the end of the story. If you ask him about the armor he will hint that the faction representatives have a means of upgrading them.

Head round the edge of the landing pad to the exit and you will find the factional recruiters milling around, each is also a vendor and once you have joined them you can access their inventory and buy the part needed to upgrade each piece of newcomers armor you bought from Stacklund. Like the weapons the factional version of the newcomers armor are very nice pieces of kit and levels with you up to level 15 so is very much worth getting before you head back to the mainland and leave the shuttleport.
