Part three of this quest is just as long as part two so be warned! As mentioned at the end of part two whether the reward is worth the investment for you is purely subjective, but the story is fun enough to keep the curious entertained. Ok, so what now? When we left it we had just been given Bazzits Alien Library and directed to go back and speak to Kend Ash or Ramon Bauer (depending on whether you are Clan or Omni)...over to Kithrak again for a walkthrough of the Omni version (Clan members just replace mention of Ramon for Kend and vice versa and the quest is the same) We have already met with Kend Ash earlier trying to tune Deidre’s gun so we return to the center of Omni-Trade to speak with her about where the Kyr’Ozch Structural Analyzer came from. After having a look at the device, she wants you to first help her retrieve some weapons that have been stolen by smugglers. Once you bring it back she will tell you what she knows.
Note: Do not delete this mission! The mission location is randomly determined. Even if the mission is located in the middle of nowhere, you have no choice but to accept it. This is because if you delete this mission you will not be able to receive another one and will have to redo everything up to this point again. Once you retrieve the stolen goods we receive an update to return to Kend Ash.
After you return the Stolen Goods and show her the structural analyzer again she reveals that it was salvaged from a Kyr’Ozch crash site. According to ‘Red’, he and his fellow Eco Warriors were on their way to a secreat meeting in Central Artery Valley when they came upon the crash site. They then salvaged the equipment found there and sold it to her. She suggests that you go talk to Eco Red for more information.
To find Eco Red grid to Old Athen, exit the city through the east city gate and fly south in Wartorn Valley until we reach Aegean. There, travel to the base of the waterfall at 530, 980 and up the stairs to reach to the scenic city on top. Eco Red will be at 625,1150. Once we find him we just give him the Kyr’Ozch Structural Analyzer to immediately get his attention. It got his attention, and he immediately gives us a scanner to scan some creatures that he is researching. To boot, we get a mission update with the details. All this without him even asking if we wanted to help!
The creatures are not rare, but they are somewhat scattered around Rubi-Ka. I found the Hammer Beast somewhere south of Eco Red in Aegean, went to a Clan backyard for the Rollerrat, southwest of the grid entrence to Broken Shores area to tag a Vulture Feuder, 1300,2340 Varmit Woods for the Monolish Blubbag and Grass Snake in an Omni-Backyard.
With our end of the bargain complete we return to Eco Red for his end of the deal. He was surprised by the results of our scans saying that the values were ‘way off the charts!’ Eco goes on explaining about how a Kyr’Ozch gene causes cells to regenerate faster than normal. Setting the implications of widespread Kyr’Ozch biological contamination of Rubi-Ka wildlife we ask if he can reveal what he knows about the structural analyzer. Eco Red composes himself and recalls that Zibell and him were on their way to the northern part of Central Artery Valley looking into a report that said Omni-Tek were dumping mutated creatures there. He said that they found more than mutants that night, they saw a ‘devastating roar of metal scraping against metal, and then a deafening explosion that lit up everything within miles around us’. When they recovered their wits, they found themselves looking at a burning wreck that carved a path of destruction through the woods as it came down from the sky. They ‘spotted several tiny creatures’ crawling away from the wreck. Zibell and him went to help but the creatures defended themselves telepathically that caused the two of them to go unconscious. When Eco woke up, he found himself back in his apartment. It turns out that Eco Red did not find the structural analyzer. Zibell found it and Eco helped him sell it (to Commander Kend Ash). So we ask him where Zibell can be found. Eco says that he might have returned to Central Artery Valley to look for more crash sites so he can sell the parts to the authorities for large sums of money. Bidding Eco farewell, we go look for Dr. Zibell.
Our next stop is Central Artery Valley. The fastest way to get there is to whompa from Omni-Trade to Omni-Entertainment, then to 20k and finally to 10-3. Zibell the Wanderer is at 3430, 2650 in The Great Bulk, the northeast corner Central Artery Valley. Once we find Zibell he seemed to be looking slightly paranoid, scanning around him even while talking. He tells us that he is on the lookout for Doctor Krank as the source of all his troubles. He wants us to get rid of Dr. Krank before talking any more to us about the Kyr’Ozch structural analyzer. Once we get rid of Dr. Krank he will tell us more. Before we leave he starts talking to himself. Guess Dr. Krank isn’t the only one that is ‘off his rocker’.
Alvin Odeleder at 1540, 2500 in Mutant Domain, Lush Fields keeps an eye on suspicious robot activities. Talking to him, Alvin is shorthanded and needs more people to help him gather important information for Omni-Tek. When asked why he didn’t apply for more people he explains that due to the paperwork involved, he would rather try to recruit random volunteers that walk in from the road. The mission description says we need papers that look official to get Dr. Krank to leave. The forms Alvin showed us looked pretty official to me. So we go ahead and ask him if we could have one to help Uncle Bazzit. Turns out Alvin and Bazzit are close friends so he is more than happy to help us put together some transfer papers to convince ‘someone called Dr. Krank to move out of a specific area.’ Now armed with the Omni-Tek Personnel Transfer Application we are ready to confront Dr. Krank. For Clanners: The mission description suggests that to find the papers we need, seek out someone that keeps an eye on suspicious robot activities. That someone happens to be Dodga Demerzel. He is holed up at 610, 1120 in The Rising Sun, Aegean right next to our friend Eco Red. But since I am not a Clanner, Mr. Demerzel has been uncooperative. Lets go have a talk with Dr. Krank and serve him his transfer papers at 2960, 1315 in Eastern Swampland, Central Artery Valley. Trying to talk with the good albeit thoroughly mad doctor is unproductive at best. So we just hand him the transfer papers and Dr. Krank can be on his way. He will be moving out but he’ll miss his colors. And we certainly don’t care much.
Whoa, we got rid of Dr. Krank for only a couple of hours? Best to hurry back to Zibell then. We return to Zibell and inform him that we got rid of Dr. Krank (for a few hours). He checks and is overjoyed to find Krank gone. Back to the business at hand, he says he remembers being recruited by Eco Red to help the mutated animals in Central Artery Valley. He remembers seeing a big explosion (when the Kyr’Ozch craft crashed) and then fell unconscious. At this point he becomes incoherent babbling about Jim his pet rollerrat and the Unicorns showing up killing every living thing at the crash site. But they managed to hide from them. Then, ‘Jim helped me find small rocks and rubble to take with us home.’ Informing him that there is no rollerrat here and that he is crazy he went on to say how Dr. Krank showed up and stole most of the equipment that Zibell and Jim found. And that explains why Zibell hates Dr. Krank so much. Asking if Dr. Krank ‘was conducting research on the site’. Zibell scoffs at the idea, saying ‘Bah. Research? He’s crazy. Coo-cooo. The lights are on, but no one is home. That kind of crazy. Isn’t he, Jim?’ This accusation is coming from a guy that talks to imaginary pet rollerrats named Jim. We kindly remind him that there are no rollerrats around. This seemed to make Zibell angry and he demands that we leave at once. Refusing to talk to us, looks like it is time we head back to Dr. Krank if he hasn’t left yet or has returned already and hear his side of the story.
Back to Dr. Krank, we show him the Kyr’Ozch Structural Analyzer. Seeing the device he instantly recognizes it as Unicorn technology and explains how to find an engraved symbol on the bottom as the Unicorn logo. It is used to scan Kyr’Ozch equipment and armor to find compatible parts. He then gives us a clump of Kyr’Ozch Bio-Material to try the scanner out. Asking about the crash site, he says that there wasn’t much to say and that the Unicorns were there shortly and cleared the area. Dr. Krank found lots of Kyr’Ozch technology but Omni-Tek protocol determines what can be done if an alien craft lands on Rubi-Ka. Omni-Com tries to reverse engineer the equipment and Omni-Med performs all the research on the aliens, dead or alive. The Unicorns enforce this protocol with ruthless efficiency. As it turned out, Zibell was driven mad when they found the aliens and they telepathically committed suicide to avoid capture. Krank continues explaining how during his research on the Kyr’Ozch in Omni-Med he found the aliens to be very stubborn and proud, a dangerous combination. The Kyr’Ozch live in hives with a strict hierarchal military structure where disobedience is immediately punished, usually death. Having learned all that we could, we bid the good and sane (it seems) Dr. Krank goodbye as the doctor reverts to babbling about being careful of colors. It looks like Dr. Krank was merely pretending to be insane while Zibell wasn’t. We return to Uncle Bazzit have much to report on our findings.
Finally, we return to Uncle Bazzit’s workshop to report to Uncle Bazzit. Enjoy the debriefing as you find out about Uncle Bazzit’s past. Enjoy the belt reward and the end of a long eventful series of missions/quests. I am leaving the rest of the dialogue choices up to you to decide for yourself. |
