Alright, this is basically a thread that teaches you the basics of Lavalon,
the boss you have to kill to get your 3rd job.

Seeing that King's guide is abit outdated compared to our Lavalon now, (No offence)
I'll create one.

So let's get the ball rolling!

Disclaimer
I am not responsible on how many times you die while trying to kill Lavalon,
This is not a foolproof guide but it will brief you on what Lavalon is capable of, and what you should and should not do.

This guide is owned by me and you have no right whatsoever to copy any part of it, you may ask for my permission though.

Pre-requisites

First up,

So you've hit level 40, you're l33thaxnao?
WRONG!
You need to the hero quests in order to unlock the job advancement quest!

[32] Farrell's Diary - (Related to 3rd job quest)

NPC & Location: Pablo || Libra
Rewards: 238050 exp, 15 silver 25 copper, (1) Sealed Flame Gate Key

1. Talk to Pablo.
2. Defeat Sambaba in Valid Raeth (Hero Quest Mode) MM.
3. Talk to Pablo to complete the quest.


[40] Fight to the death against Drakes! - (3rd job quest)

NPC & Location: Pablo || Libra
Rewards: 369450 exp, 17 silver 87 copper, (1) Lavalon's Flame Ring

1. Talk to Pablo.
2. Defeat Lavalon.
3. Talk to Pablo to complete the quest.


Refer to number [32] and [40]

Now, under [40] 2. Defeat Lavalon
You'll be like, ZOMGHAX? Lavalon!?!

Most of you probably know what Lavalon is already,
If you dont, here's a sneak peak !





It has an amazing life bar (HP Bar) of 2800000.
It's 2.8million exactly.

After all the HP has been drained off.




Do not fret though!
This guide will get you through the lavalon battle with minor scratches!

Basically, once you have the key from the quest,
It allows you to enter the lavalon map.

It's at Valid Raeth top part, the center portal.

Do note only level 40s and above can enter,
regardless of who the party leader is.

I do believe you can enter without a key,
I'm not confirmed of this part though.
Anyone care to try it out?

Pre-Battle

DOs

- Stock up on lvl 40 potions that heal 1200HP / MP which are purchased from Libra's NPC named Koniel aka the Instrument Merchant

Koniel is here if you don't know


About 300 of each should be plenty enough with a party of 3-4.

If there are Acos / Oracles, you don't really need to stock up that much,
but just in case

- (Optional) Stock up on feathers if you find a need to.

Make sure you buy the right ones for your level though!

- Repair your weapons and armours !

A broken weapon is bound to be a one way ticket to death,
Remember to repair your weapon and armours!

Libra is just one map away, do NOT be lazy because it just might be your downfall.


- Empty your bladder !

It is almost impossible to AFK and go to the toilet during the Lavalon battle!

- Eat !

Make sure you're full or at least not hungry,
a painful stomach during Lavalon battle is NOT good.

-Off Autoloot for 'Misc'

This is basically one of the main reasons you have to re-enter and waste a key. A party member forgot to off their MISC autoloot.

Party leaders do remind your party to off their autoloot for MISC,
For the other autoloots you can leave it on.

This is because when you kill the sambaba lookalike guard in the map just before Lavalon, it drops a key which is needed to unlock the door. (Similar to Farrel)

DON'Ts

Basically, do not do anything that is the opposite of the DOs.

Entering the map



Have the key ready?
Head on down and have your party leader press 'z' at the door

Map 1



You'll be greeted with many many mobs,
Basically just ignore them and head to the right.

You'll reach a point where there's a 'staircase-like' thing.



You have to jump onto it and go to the topmost(3rd storey) and dash to the platform above.

Keep heading right and you'll see a guard,
You can ignore him or just fight him.

Basically you just need to destroy the door and head through.



Map 2



Pretty much like Map 1 but easier.
Keep heading left until you find the guard and door.

You'll come across this bounce thingy,

Once again, ignore or kill, your call.
All you need to do is destroy the door and head through.




Map 3



This is the worst of the lot IMO.

I can't remember clearly but i do believe this is the one with the 3d Jump and the map before Lavalon.

Upon entering, head right.
You'll be greeted with you first cross-junction (there are 2-3 if im not wrong)
Anyway it's very straightforward,
There's only 1 true way, the rest are blocked.

You'll come across a fun bounce-fly platform(well thats what i call it D: )



You'll meet the cross junction for the jump quest after about 1minute or so of running.

You know you reached it when you look straight and there are platforms and lava.

There is no true way to do this, all i can say is have patience, try not to skip any platforms. Do note you respawn at the start of the mini-jumpquest if you fall into the lava.

Yes!!




After you passed it, Head right all the way and there he is, (Remember to dash-jump if not you'll restart at the first jumping point)
The guard that looks like sambaba.



It's a pushover in-fact.

Kill it, party leader takes the key and head right.

The door is just up ahead.
Be sure you guys are ready, go to the toilet and what-not before entering.

Heal up, Get in

The Battle

Upon entering the door,
You'll be greeted with a nice short clip of lavalon.

Immediately after that, the battle starts.
This is it. The moment you've been waiting for.


Lavalons attacks

Basically Lavalon itself has 2 attacks only.

1. The one where he slams his hand on the ground and do damage,
sometimes it covers the whole floor. When this happens, the moment his hand is going to hit, JUMP. It will miss you.

2. His dreaded fire-breathing skills.

The only warning you get is when he kind of makes noise or rears his head back,
You have about 1 or 2 seconds to dodge it, it's quite small AOE. But it hurts the most. It hits about 4-5 times.

It hits roughly about 700-800+ damage on warriors and 1000-1200 damage on mages. Not sure about thief and archers.

His firebreath only attacks 3 spots.

One being where the mana cannon is, the left spot in the pic, somewhere in the center.

Basically how to avoid?
Keep your eyes on his head and get ready to jump / dash out of the way the moment his breath comes.


Lavalons Map Hazards

Not exactly hazards, but there are meteors falling from the sky that do a considerable amount of damage.
Same symbol as the hand slamming one. Easily dodge-able.

There are mobs too. You need to kill them to get mana bullets to load the cannon to stun Lavalon so you can deal damage to him

Killing Lavalon

Basically what you need to do is kill mobs,
hope mana bullets drop, load it to the cannon and fire away.

the mana bullet droprate is quite low, around the droprate of a devils soulstone.

Here's a pic of the mana bullet drop, it's all the way at the front the blue sphere thing.

If it does drop however, take it and load it into the mana cannon.
Easily done via going to it and holding the 'Z' button

1 Mana bullet can load till it's full if you're uninterrupted.

Once it's fully loaded, the cannon loading bar will turn yellow.
You have to destroy it by attacking it.

After destroying it, the cannon will blast off a blue thingy that stuns Lavalon.

It has around 5k or so hp if im not wrong.

Upon hitting and destroying the mana cannon,
It'll stun Lavalon for about 10 seconds.

When it's stunned this is how it looks


It's a crucial 10 seconds so UNLEASH HELL on it.
Keep attacking until it jerks its head, this is a sign to RUN AWAY.

Because immediately after that, he unleashes a firebreath.

Keep doing this until his hp goes all the way to 0 and you've won,
You killed Lavalon.

Aftermath

After you killed him, a mini clip for you to enjoy and after that,
the box choosing ! Choose fast because once a box has been chosen, you cant choose it.



You'll get insane exp and a few loots.



Basically it drops level 40 and 45 equipments, not sure about rarity of them etc.
Weapon and Armour powders.
Granite. (Useful for lavalon weapon creation)
NOTE! Granite drops from mobs in the lavalon battle too! Not only the rewards part!
And the very rare lavalons heart piece. (Just got it out of sheer luck pics below)


As requested by Klarity, this is the exp after finishing the 3rd job quests(including the 200combo one)

Just realised it was only about 1% after lavalon but about 7% after quests finished
hmm weird O_O
