Trial of Seeker
By ValerieRose
This is the first quest for the "rogue" classes (Elven Scout, Rogue and Assassin), and it starts at lvl 35 at the Warrior Guild in Giran. You must talk to Master Dufner there in order to start your quest. He will tell you a story of mutant creatures becoming somewhat restless and of course, he needs your help. After explaining the matter, he will send you to Dion, to talk to "Hawkeye".

"Hawkeye" is actually Master Terry and he can be found at Dion's Warrior Guild. He will refuse to help at first, but, as all Lineage 2's NPCs, he will help you as long as you do him a little favor. He needs time to become "Hawkeye" again, so he sends you to investigate the first monster instead.

The monster you need is the Neer Ghoul Berserkers on the second level of Execution Grounds. The monster itself is rather easy, it should be dark blue at lvl 35. But Execution Grounds is generally known as a PK zone in many servers, so remember to have your Blessing of Protection and be alert. Despite that, there shouldn't be many problems. You will find he Neer Ghoul Berserkers by taking the first set of stairs to the right upon entering the Execution Grounds. They should be on the second level, and they're aggro, and so are many mobs around there. It should take you only one kill (as of CT2's second class change quest enhancements).

Once you get the runestone, you must go back to Master Terry, in Dion. And obviously, his next task won't be so easy. He will give you a list of new monsters to investigate: Ol Mahum Captains, Turek Orc Warlords, Ant Captains and Turak Bugbear Warriors.

The closest one from the list is the Ol Mahum Captain that can be found at Fortress of Resistance. Bear in mind you can do them in any order, and ports are free until you reach lvl 41, so there's no problem. I'll post how I did it. First, the Ol Mahum Captain at Fortress of Resistance. You should be able to /target one from the port spot, they usually stay around one of the camps. It should take you only one to get the runestone.

The second one would be porting to Gludio and then to Ants Nest, to get the Ant Captain. You should find Ant Captains in the second room if you hug your right upon entering the Ant's Nest. Be careful, because all the others are social. The Ant Captain is aggro as well. It shouldn't be a problem at all, and you only need one.

![]() |
From there, I went to Gludin and then Orc Barracks. The Turek Orc Warlord should be found inside one of the first camps as you enter the Orc Barracks. Be careful, they're aggro, all the other orcs are social, so before you attack, make sure you lure one out of the camp so you don't have the whole camp aggroing on you. The Shamans and Elders found inside the small camps are magic users, so jewels are needed or you might just as well die, despite the mobs being relatively easy. Again, also for this mob, you only need to kill one.

The last mob on the list is the Turak Bugbear Warrior, and it can be found at Gorgon Flower Garden from Giran. There's no direct port at all there (unless you decide to use Ancient Adena and port, from either the Priest of Dawn or the Dusk Priestess, to the Necropolis of Martyrdom). You can get there by running towards the exit next to the Einhasad Church. Following that path forward, you shouldn't have much trouble finding the mob. It is aggro (and so are Harpies that are around there), and it's a 2x mob, but you shouldn't have too much problem. Only one kill and the runestone drops.

Once you have all four runestones, it's time to go back to Master Terry in Dion. He will have yet another task for you. This time, he'll send you to Hunter's Village to talk to Trader Viktor. He'll also give you his real name, you must remember that. "Altebar Karryos" (no wonder he changed his name, by the way!).
![]() |
![]() |
Trader Viktor is at the Weapons and Armor shop in Hunter's Village. He's a grumpy fellow who will grumble a lot before he can give you the next task. By the way, when he gives the option of saying "yes" or "no", it doesn't really matter which one you choose. He will (after rambling a lot) give you the task of hunting Medusas, for 10 of their scales.

The Medusas can be found at the same place where you found the Turak Bugbear Warriors earlier, just a little further (in case you come running from Giran). Beware though, everything there is white at lvl 35 AND aggro. There are Wyrms, Medusas and Bugbear Warriors that will attack you on sight. You only need the medusas, and it shouldn't be that difficult. Remember to take some healing pots, just in case. The drop rate is 100% since CT2 second class change quest changes, so it means you will only need 10 of them to get all 10 scales (it used to be a real pain to get those before CT2, by the way). Once all 10 scales are collected, you must go back to Trader Viktor in Hunter's Village.

He will reveal you what he found out about the runestones, that they're related to Shilen. But of course, nothing is perfect, and he will send you to Magister Marina in order to understand more about them.
![]() |
![]() |
![]() |
Magister Marina can be found at the Ivory Tower, on the Second floor (The Human Floor). And of course, she will ask you a favor while she studies the runestones (did you really expect otherwise? Hah!). The good thing is, the favor doesn't involve hunting monsters. The bad thing is, you must travel all the way to the Dwarven Village to talk to Blacksmith Brunon there.
![]() |
![]() |
![]() |
![]() |
Brunon is at the Blacksmith shop in the Dwarven Village. Good thing you don't pay for ports anymore if you're below 41 since CT2, isn't it? In any case, he will simply deliver you the package for Marina, simple as that! So, it's back to Ivory Tower.
![]() |
![]() |
![]() |
Marina will then thank you and proceed with the experiments. Once she's done, she'll tell you to hand in her reports directly to Master Terry in Dion! Isn't it adorable of her to cut one step on your travel? In any case, you don't need to go back to Viktor in Hunter's Village. So head directly to Dion and talk to Master Terry.
![]() |
![]() |
Master Terry will then read the report and explain you about the connection between the Runestones and Shilen, before he sends you to your next time, which involves killing more monsters. More specifically: Marsh Stakato Drones, Breka Orc Overlords, Ant Warrior Captains and Leto Lizardman Warriors.
(PS: I didn't include the last dialogue from Master Terry, since he only explains where to find those mobs, and I will be putting the map here in any case)

![]() |
Let's start from the order I've done it. Again, as in the beginning of the quest, you can do those in any order. This is how I've done it. First, the closest ones from Dion, the Marsh Stakato Drones. Porting to Cruma Tower (instead of Cruma Marshlands) directly will place you closer to where you can find the Drones. They're aggro and white at 35. But it shouldn't be a big deal, and again, for all the mobs on this list, you only need one.
![]() |
![]() |
Then, Ant's Nest from Gludio, to hunt Ant Warrior Captains. If you remember the room I talked about for the Ant Captains, the Ant Warrior Captains are just one room after that. But they're aggro, and all of the other "red" ants are social, so be very careful or it can be nasty if you pull too many. You only need one.
![]() |
![]() |
Next, to Giran and Breka's Stronghold, which is a direct port from Giran. The mob you need is the Breka Orc Overlord, and it should be at the right of the port spot. Only one kill needed, again.
![]() |
![]() |
The last one is the Leto Lizardman Warrior. So you need to port to Oren, and from there, to Plains of Lizardman. The Warriors can be found running west from the port spot, and they are yellow at 35. Be careful with the Plains group (Lord of the Plains, Scout of the Plains, etc), they're aggro and they will kill you if you aggro one of those. Leto Lizardman Soldiers are also aggro. But, you should be ok if you only attack the Warrior. One kill and the quest item will drop.
![]() |
![]() |
After you've collected all four quest items, you should go back to Dion and speak to Master Terry. Your quest is almost done, by the way. He will tell you to send his reports to Master Dufner in Giran.
![]() |
![]() |
And finally, Master Dufner will reward you with the Mark of Seeker, and as of CT2, 93803 adena, 514739 Exp and 33384 SP.
