Demiplane Access #4: Misty for You
(Normal):
This task is the fourth step in the process of obtaining a Monocle of Blood, the key to the Demi-Plane of Blood. It begins with Coldwind Blackfoot in Nektulos Forest at location -1460, -965, and is only available if you have Dreadspire access and a Blurry Lens.
You say, 'Hail, Coldwind Blackfoot'
Coldwind Blackfoot regards you with his sharp cold eyes. Then he turns his head a little toward you and sniffs the air that has passed your flesh. He glares at you, then nods reluctantly. 'I can smell the Master on you. You have been inside the spire and returned alive. This we share, though my route out of that place was undoubtedly more ghastly than yours. I am willing to share some of my experiences with you as a cautionary tale, if you [would like to hear] what I have to tell.'
You say, 'I would like to hear'
Coldwind Blackfoot says 'The history of my people is long and difficult for an outsider to understand. What I am about to tell you is deeply linked to that history, so I you may have trouble understanding my motivations and the choices I have made. Do not concern yourself with why I did what I did, listen to the results of my actions and understand what I have learned from them. My story begins many years ago when I decided that I was more capable than Bloodeye. I chose to try to defeat our enemy, the one that corrupted our cousins. I gathered those of my family and clan that I knew would join me and I tried to breach the Dreadspire and find this Master that has torn our people apart and do the same to him. I took [five of them] with me to find a way in, to try to destroy the Hive Queen.'
You say, 'Five of them?'
Coldwind Blackfoot says 'Yes, only five. I was prideful and there were only five that I trusted. We were clever and times were different then. The Drachnid were overconfident and we were able to bypass most of them to reach the topmost level of the Hive. But once there we were uncertain how to reach the spire. We could find no entrance and so we chose to kill Sendaii and hope that she would have a key that we could use. At the very least we would have destroyed a great enemy. We passed unseen into her lair and came upon her unaware. The great disgusting creature should have died under our claws, we thought. We were fools, of course. Three of my cousins and my sister were killed in the battle. To my shame I was captured. There were many weeks of torture that I will not discuss. I knew that my end would come when I was implanted with her eggs and left to hang as food for her newborn. That, obviously, is not [what happened].'
You say, 'What happened?'
Coldwind Blackfoot says 'I only remember those weeks vaguely. I clearly remember my single day in Dreadspire. I awoke on a cold slab of stone. Above me stood a figure that I at first took to be an elf of some sort. There were two undead Shiliskin holding my limbs with their unholy strength. The man-figure never spoke to me, but I felt him inside my mind and body. His power pulled memory from me as easily as I might pull a blade of grass. He was able to infuse his power into my body and the touch of it made me ill. I sensed that every time I felt disgusted by his presence he was pleased. He took everything from me, turned it over in his mind and then placed it back. When he was done I felt in my mind a challenge. He seemed to have found me acceptable in some way, as if the least rotten of a basket of mushrooms. His challenge was to [come and find him]. He then released me and the Shiliskin zombies beat me unconscious.'
You say, 'Come and find him?'
Coldwind Blackfoot says 'It was an offer, of some sort. If I could perform the tasks needed to find him, then I would be powerful enough to earn a place at his side. I sensed the truth of that from his offer and from the sense of power and evil that was now inside me. I refused the offer and have refused to fight anyone since that day. That refusal along with my stupid sacrifice of my cousins and sister have made me an outcast. When your people opened up the topworld to us I chose to leave Darkhollow and live here. I am content to live my life here in this space between the two worlds, for I can not enter your world and I will not go back to my own.'
At the end of Eyes Wide Open, Treddlehoop mentioned that you should seek out a shaman to help you find out more about the Blurry Lens.
You say, 'What about the Blurry Lens?'
Coldwind Blackfoot listens as you tell the story of obtaining the Blurry Lens. His expressions are hard to read because he is not of your race, but you see that at times he is disappointed, but most of the time he is disgusted. 'Those metal creatures are a curse on all things with spirits. Things that they touch grow cold. To me they are undead, spirits trapped in unliving flesh. This glass that you show me is an abomination. Beings have paid with their eyes to create this, and they have closed them so that they need not see the horrors that they anticipate.' Here Coldwind pauses to look up into the sky. 'I was once a spiritual leader of my people. I understand that sometimes those of spiritual value can still not see the truth. If you are [willing to prove] your spiritual value to me, I think I can convince these eyes to see for you.'
You say, 'I am willing to prove it.'
If you do not have a Blurry Lens (or are not keyed for Dreadspire Keep):
Coldwind Blackfoot says 'Well, I am not yet convinced. Perhaps if you had that lens we were speaking of or knew your way into Dreadspire, then we might be able to talk.'
If you have a Blurry Lens:
You have been assigned the task 'Misty For You'.
Coldwind has asked you to try to locate his sister Misty Blackfoot and return her to him if you can. The only information he gave you was a rumor that a Ragepaw fitting her description was seen in some lower sections of the keep.
Find a way into the lower section of Dreadspire - Dreadspire Keep
Go to Dreadspire Keep and click on the door to the lower spire.
Your task 'Misty For You' has been updated.
Note - A dev has stated that if anyone in the task is not keyed for Vule's area, then at this stage the group will be directed to speak with Doorman so that they can complete Memories Lost. The task steps for that are theoretically added inside this task, since you can't have two group tasks at the same time. I cannot confirm this, as all members of our task had previously done Memories Lost.
Find Misty Blackfoot - Dreadspire Keep
Once you enter the first room of Vule's area, Misty Blackfoot will spawn. She is indifferent, does not assist any mobs, and no mobs assist her.
Your task 'Misty For You' has been updated
Speak with Misty Blackfoot - Dreadspire Keep
You say, 'Hail, Misty Blackfoot'
Misty Blackfoot says 'I will not speak with you. You are invaders in this place.' Misty sniffs the air deeply and then turns on you angrily. 'You smell of HIM! He sent you, my traitorous brother! He led us into certain death because of his own arrogance. We all should have died, but by the smell of you I see that he still lives! That's convenient, isn't it! Well I no longer need his help. I am no longer his baby sister fawning over his every word. I am a servant of the Master now. He has shown me power that Coldwind will never know or understand. You have two choices now. Leave this place and be spared, or [stay here] with that smell on you and die. You shall suffer as my cousins suffered the day he lead us into that horrible place and left us to die!'
Your task 'Misty For You' has been updated.
Kill 1 Misty Blackfoot - Dreadspire Keep
You say, 'We will stay here'
Misty Blackfoot says 'So be it! I shall find my brother once I am done with you and he shall receive your heads as a gift!'
Misty Blackfoot says 'We'll be having meat for dinner!'
Misty attacks, hitting for 1800 on average and for a maximum of 4000. She casts Clan Aura and Wave of Rage (DD DoT), flurries, rampages, and enrages.
Misty Blackfoot's corpse takes two steps backwards, the fear of death in its eyes.
You have slain Misty Blackfoot!
Your task 'Misty For You' has been updated.
Deliver 1 Moon-Shaped Diamond Pendant to Coldwind - Nektulos Forest
Deliver 1 Blurry Lens to Coldwind - Nektulos Forest
Loot the Moon-Shaped Diamond Pendant and turn it in to Coldwind.
Coldwind accepts the pendant solemnly. He listens toyour story without speaking a word. He says nothing to you as hand him the glass. He is silent as holds the glass up to the sky. Only his lips move as he performs motions with his arms and fingers. He is completely silent as he returns the glass, now very clear, to you. He is silent and unmoving as a single tear runs down his cheek. He then speaks softly, 'Your work is not yet done. This glass is [bound] to the one that made it.'
Everyone in the task receives Lens of Bound Eyes
Reward: Lens of Bound Eyes
Demiplane Access #5: Eye Bound (Normal): Upon completing the previous task, "Misty for You," Coldwind (at location -1463, -966, 65 in Nektulos) gives you a Lens of Bound Eyes.
You say, 'What lens of bound eyes?'
Coldwind Blackfoot says 'You must find the one who has bound those eyes to his service. Bring me one of his eyes and the glass and I can free them.'
You have been assigned the task 'Eye Bound'.
Coldwind told you that you must locate the one that bound the eyes into the glass of the lens. He did not know who that might be. When you think you may have the proper eye, return it to Coldwind along with the lens.
Bring to Coldwind the eye of the one that binds the glass (0/1) Nektulos Forest
Deliver 1 Lens of Bound Eyes to Coldwind (0/1) Nektulos Forest
The "proper eye" comes from Master Vule in Dreadspire Keep. Deliver the Lens and Vule's Eye to Coldwind.
Your task 'Eye Bound' has been updated.
Coldwind, still silent and saddened about the fate of his sister, holds up the lens and aims the surface at his right hand, the one holding the eye of Vule. He crushes the eye while humming a sad tune. He nods, and hands you the glass. 'They are free and grateful to you, as am I.'
You have (as well as the other members of your group) been given: Lens of Eye-Glass. Reward: Lens of Eye-Glass
Going Postal (Nektulos) (Normal): This quest covers every town in Norrath, as well as some non-town areas. The reward varies (at whim) between 1gp and 12gp, with values in the middle more usual. With a couple of deliveries, low-level characters could get a few platinum easily. Bards with Selo's Accelerando are really in good shape, as some of these routes can be done in only a few minutes. The quest is sponsored by the League of Antonican Bards. Faction hits are League of Antonican Bards, Knights of Truth, and Guards of Qeynos get better, RingofScale and Mayong Mistmoore get worse.
In this version, you are asked to deliver the mail to Felisity or Ton Twostring in Freeport
Necromancer Epic: Scythe of the Shadowed Soul (Normal): The quest starts in Nektulos Forest where you must find Venenzi Oberzendi. She is at location -1140, -260 post-post-revamp.
You say, 'Hail, Venenzi Oberzendi'
Venenzi Oberzendi says 'What is it you want! Can't you see I am gathering reagents for my [master]? If I don't get them for him quickly he might punish me.'
You say, 'Who is your master?'
Venenzi Oberzendi says 'You do not know of my teacher? The great Kazen Fe'cae! I am one of his illustrious apprentices! If you fancy yourself a necromancer, travel to Lake Rathetear and tell Kazen you wish to study the dark arts.'
You say, 'What reagents?'
Venenzi Oberzendi says 'My master is working on some great project. He's always busy studying an old text he found and murmuring something about following in the footsteps of Miragul.'
Her Master, Kazen Facae, is at location 340, -1600 in Lake Rathetear.
You say, 'Hail, Kazen Fecae'
Kazen Fecae 's eyes seem to glow as he turns to you and says, 'Leave me be if you have no reason to be here, mortal!'
You say, 'I wish to study the dark arts.'
Kazen Fecae looks you up and down, his eyes glowing with a soft red light. After a moment he begins to speak though his lips do not move. 'You wish to study under me? Perhaps, if you prove yourself to follow the twisted path. If you prove to be as coldhearted as I then I will let you become my servant.'
You say, 'How can I prove myself?'
Kazen Fecae says 'The wandering 'knight' Sir Edwin Motte recently slew one of my lesser servants. This foolish knave travels from town to town pretending to be 'good.' Separate his head from his body and return it to me so I may work my magics upon it. This fool will become another plaything for me, even in death.'
Sir Edwin Motte is a 33rd level Paladin. He is found in four places throughout Norrath. The easiest place to find him is at the Docks in East Freeport. He spawns fairly frequently in the inn. Once he has spawned, kill him and loot his head. Bring the head back to Kazen for the Symbol of the Apprentice.
Kazen Fecae says 'Excellent!' You watch Kazen hold the head by the hair and begin to cast a spell. A flash of darkness centers around the head and the eyes of the dead knight open, a terrible scream emanating from its lips. 'This poor fool here - I think I will keep him in my bag from now on. You have done well, my new apprentice. Take this symbol and know that you can do other tasks to advance within my apprentice ranks.'
You say, 'How can I advance?'
Kazen Fecae says 'I share great secrets with my more powerful servants who show me they are willing to serve without question. Tell my servant the name of any symbol he gives you and he will instruct you. If I give you a symbol, speak its name to me so I may instruct you.'
You say, 'What about a symbol of the apprentice?'
Kazen Fecae says 'You have a long way to go before I teach you the true secrets of life and death. Visit Venenzi Oberendi in the Nektulos forest and show her the symbol. She is collecting reagents for one of my experiments and is taking far too long. I do not wish her dead, yet. I simply need the reagents soon. Retrieve the reagents and give them to my assistant Emkel Kabae. I do not wish to handle them myself.'
Take the symbol to Venenzi and she will give you the Twisted Symbol of the Apprentice.
Venenzi Oberzendi says 'I see you serve my master as well now. I assume you are here to take the reagents from me which I have gathered for him? I don't know if I like the idea of you gaining the credit for my hard work here. I might consider giving you these reagents, if only you do a small [task] for me.'
You say, 'What task?'
Venenzi Oberzendi looks down at her robes and back at you. 'There is a certain dark elf magician who has decided to wear the same fashion as I have on several occasions. I do not wish to attend another social gathering in Neriak and look exactly the same as another woman. Slay her and bring me her robe and I will give you my hard earned reagents.'
The robe she speaks of is a Flowing Black Robe. This is dropped in Najena by - you guessed it - Najena. It would surely be quicker to visit The Bazaar and buy one off a player. Regardless of how you obtain it, head back to Venenzi and hand it over.
Venenzi Oberzendi says 'Thank you. I did not think you would track down Najena and slay her. I think that I am going to return to my old life in Neriak. I am sick of the way Kazen has been treating me. He never seems to teach me anything worthwhile. Don't forget to give his lapdog that symbol with the reagents. I'm sure he will give you a new one.'
You will receive a Rolling Stone Moss. Now you will need to go back to Lake Rathetear and find Emkel, Fazen's Apprentice. He is by the stone skeleton tower.
You say, 'Hail, Emkel Kabae'
Emkel Kabae says 'I am Emkel Kabae, first apprentice to Kazen. If you have a symbol, tell me its name.'
Give him the Twisted Symbol of the Apprentice and the moss for the Symbol of the Serpent.
Emkel Kabae says 'Very good, you have done as the master asked yet again, take this as a reward.' Emkel reaches into his robes and pulls out a small symbol. He holds it out and the tiny symbol floats to your hand.
You say, 'What is the symbol of the serpent?'
Emkel Kabae says 'There are more reagents to be gathered. The time draws near for our master's ascension. Travel to the lands of Kunark and seek out Ssessthrass. He is a very wise Iksar herbalist helping me in my endeavor to please Master Kazen. Be careful not to insult his speech, or you may end up dead before you serve your purpose to the master. Be sure to show him the symbol as proof or he may consider you dinner.'
You will need to take this Symbol to Ssessthrass, a named Iksar in the Swamp of No Hope. He is at location 3800, 1600, which is in a house in the pass to go to Field of Bone. He will give you Scaled Symbol of the Serpent.
You say, 'Hail, Ssessthrass'
Ssessthrass says 'I do not wisssh to be bothered.'
Give him the Symbol of the Serpent.
Ssessthrass says 'Sssso, Emkel ssssent you to retrieve the manisi herb? I do not have the herb. The ssssarnak guard the herb. Apparently it is ssssacred to them. Only memberssss of their royal family are allowed to partake of it. They live deep in Chardok. They are hoarding what little of the precious herb there is. If you have an army, perhapssss you can bring me the herb and I can prepare it for Emkel. Bring back this ssssymbol as well.'
Next, head to Chardok and find the Herbalist. His spawn point is at the green house near the bank (first right after you cross the bridge). He doesn't always drop the Manisi Herb, which is what you need from him so you might have to try this more than once. Return to Ssessthrass and give him the Manisi Herb and the Scaled Symbol of the Serpent for a Refined Manisi Herb. Now go back to Emkel and give him the Refined Manisi Herb. You will get the Symbol of Testing.
Take the Symbol of Testing and give it to Kazen. Immediately after, three mobs will spawn close by to the East of Emkel on a little inlet. You can kill them with two groups of 50 . You will need a few good clerics and tanks and they shouldn't cause any trouble. The three mobs are a bone golem, a failed apprentice, and a tortured soul. The bone golem and the tormented soul were both level 55 and the failed apprentice was blue to a 53. The three mobs spawn one after another right after the previous one dies (in the order listed above). The tortured soul drops the Symbol of Insanity.
Loot the Symbol of Insanity and take it to Drendico Metalbones in Timorous Deep. He is at the docks that take you to the Overthere. If you turn right from the docks and climb onto a stoney hill, you will see this little gnome wandering around 6485, 3829. In return for the Symbol he will give you his journal and asks you to return to him: The Eye of Innoruuk, Blood of Cazic-Thule, and Cloak of Spiroc Feathers.
To get the Cloak of Spiroc Feathers you will need to speak with Jzil Gsix. You asks for you to bring him a Silver Disc, Spiroc Feathers, and a Black Silk Cape. The Silver Disc is found off of mobs on the second isle. It is most commonly dropped off of Azeracks, level 53 monsters of the second isle. The Spiroc Feathers are dropped from the Watchful Guardian on the 3rd Isle. They are level 53-55. The final item, Black Silk Cape, is dropped by the boss of the fourth island, Keeper of Souls. He is a level 60 mob that death touches every 30 seconds. He can quad hit for 400 which is a real nuisance. Bring along many of your friends to kill him. The cape does not drop every time. Now take the three items to Jzil and he will give you the Cloak of Spiroc Feathers.
The Eye of Innoruuk drops from mini-bosses in the Plane of Hate (it also drops off Innoruuk himself).
The (Slime) Blood of Cazic Thule is dropped off of Terror and Cazic Thule himself. Needless to say you'll want to bring a few friends for this fight.
Take these three items plus the journal back to Drendico. He will give you a Prepared Reagents Box.
Go back to Kazen and give him the Prepared Reagents Box for Tome of Instruction.
Now, head to the Plane of Sky. You need to get Gkzzallk to spawn on the Third Isle. Do this by giving a Thunder Spirit Princess 10 gold pieces (you will get a message indicating he's spawned). Now go to and clear the third isle. Give the Tome of Instruction to Gkzzallk to receive 'Gkzzallk in a Box.' Take the Box back to Kazen.
Kazen Fecae grins widely and his eyes flare a deep red. The scythe he promised you flies through the air and into your hand. 'Enjoy your toy, I have no more need of you as a servant.'
You receive the Scythe of the Shadowed Soul.
Additional dialogues and faction hits (if any) needed. Reward: Scythe of the Shadowed Soul
Reward: Apprentice Ring
Reward: Twisted Bone Earring
Queen Nok Nok's Tomb (Normal): This group monster mission begins with "a dark spirit of Nektulos" which wanders the southern part of Nektulos Forest (you may want a tracker to find it).
You say, 'Hail, a dark spirit of Nektulos'
A voice arises from the trees all around you. It sounds like leaves rustiling [sic] in the wind. A dark spirit of Nektulos says, 'What bringsss you to my woods, mortal: If it's [forgotten things] you ssseek, let me be your guilde. I am older than every leaf and stone of these wodsss. I can lead you to wondrousss things, for a price of course.'
You say, 'What forgotten things?'
You have been assigned the task 'Queen Nok Nok's Tomb'.
Long before the dark elvesss stumbled blinking onto the surface, this small corner of the wodsss marked the domain of the Razor Wing fariesss. Forget what you know of fairies, these creaturesss were evil and twisted and had facesss like rotten fruit. Their civilization, if it can even be called that, is long gone. All that remains is the secred glade-crypt of their old leader, Queen Noknok of the Razor Wing. The entrance to their glade is too small to enter, but I can change you into a fairy which will enable you to wiggle your way inside. Recover the dust on Queen Noknok's wings, I need it to sustain my spirit and will reward you with a treasure most fitting.
Be careful, the Razor Wing fairies were known for their curses and conniving tricks. The also have a strange affinity for ratzzz and magical wisp creaturesss called witch lampsss.
You should avoid attracting the attention of the withch lampsss for they are imperviousss to all formsss of attack. So if you are attacked you must run from them and hope they will forget about you...
Touch the entrance to the Shadowed Grove 0/1 (Nektulos Forest)
The in-game compass will direct you to the instanced entrance.
Find Queen Nok Nok's Tomb 0/1 (Shadowed Grove)
The "Tomb" is a chest located in the cave. Avoid the witch lamps that litter the zone as you cannot damage them. If you're attacked, keep moving forward and they'll eventually lose interest in you:
For some reason the Witchlamp loses interest in you and decides to go back to its section of the woods.
Retrieve the Fairy Dust 0/1 (Shadowed Grove)
Loot the Pinch of Dust from the chest (also in the chest are the item reward and Shards of Wisdom you'll need to get exp). Upon looting the dust:
A strange whisper echoes through the glade. "Over, under, back and through, around again the joke's on you. Woke the queen and drew her curse. Now your fate turns slowly worse. Witch lamps sink to wake the rats, stir them from their lifeless naps.
At this point the witch lamps turn into undead rats.
Break the Curse by Destroying the three Shines 0/3 (Shadowed Grove)
The Shrines look like crystals. A zombie spawns upon "killing" each of them. You can avoid their aggro if you are careful about it.
