Help Guide for Installing Union War on Vista

Well, after days of lagging, freezing, getting black screens, having a silent game because I moved the music files, being told my angry friends I ignored when I actually couldn't see them because I had ctrl+b on, low graphics and 800 resolution so I could barely see any other characters and getting that "Autopatch has been activated" message every time I forgot to "run the game as Administrator" I decided to uninstall the game version 1.33 with the 1.36 patch and instead download the version 1.36 with the 1.36 patch, to see if that finally fixed anything

So, I went to the main page on  top.igg.com and I noticed this alarming message:

" If you are using Windows Vista, please do not install the game in Disk C "

What did that exactly mean?

A- Do not install it directly on C, but is ok to install on one folder of C: like C:/Program Files or any other subfolder
B- I MUST NOT install it ANYWHERE on disk C:, I have to install it on another partition such as D:

Since I had no idea, I went straight to Customer Support, where, after 20 minutes of silence, this customer "support" session took place:

Maria is now on-line. Currently in room: Joyme, Maria.

Maria: Where should i install the game in Window Vista?
On top.igg.com, it says: " If you are using Windows Vista, please do not install the game in Disk C "
  Does that mean:
A- Do not install it directly on C, but is ok to install on one folder of C: like C:/Program Files or any other subfolder
B- I MUST NOT install it ANYWHERE on disk C:, I have to install it on another partition such as D:

Joyme: yes

Maria: yes WHAT? A or B ?

Joyme: You could choose the A if it did not work. you could try to B

Maria: Both options are excluding. I need to know the right one so I won't mess up my computer.

Joyme: have you downloanded and instailled the game

Maria: Yes, but it didn't work correctly with version 1.33 PLUS the 1.36 patch, so I uninstalled it and I downloaded the 1.36 version now and i want to be sure BEFORE i install it

Joyme: You could try to download the manual patch on our website : http://www.talesofpirates.com/info.php?articleId=135
and install it to update by yourself. Then start again.

Maria: I KNOW how to install the game AND the patch. I want to know WHERE to install it, since I'm using Window Vista

Joyme:
i think you could install it in the C:

Maria: On top.igg.com, it says
" If you are using Windows Vista, please do not install the game in Disk C:"
I want to know if "C." means all folders and subfolders on "C:" or just directly on "C:"

Joyme: ok. i think you could install the game in the d: instand of C

Maria: I'll try that. thanks

Joyme: You are welcome.
So,  I guess flipping a coin would have been the same. After knowing exactly how Abbot from Abbot and Costello felt after a week in a cabin with Costello, I decided to dive in myself and experiment.

Luckily, my computer has a partition D: , so I went ahead, downloadeb the setup file for version 1.36 AND the patch and installed version 1.36 straight on D:, and decided to give it a run first WITHOUT INSTALLING the 1.36 patch just to see what happened...

BEFORE: using the 1.33 version patched with the 1.36 version patch and the game installed in C:/Program Files 86x/Tales of Pirates Online:
I was using Vista
I got the "Autopatch has been activated" message so...
I had to run the game as an administrator
I lagged so badly I had to use ctrl+b on every city, my game was all low quality graphics AND I moved the music files...
and even so got lagged killed constantly even in a remote pace fighting just one monster.

NOW: with the 1.36 version installed WITHOUT the 1.36 version patch and the game installed in D:/Tales of Pirates Online:
I still am using Vista
I DON'T GET the "Autopatch has been activated message ANYMORE so...
I DON'T have to run the game as an administrator, a direct click does it
I went to ARGENT CITY and didn't LAG, I DIDN'T use ctrl+b AND DIDN'T move the music files and then on the field even so I killed a lot of monsters 4 lvls up my character with no harm done... all while enjoying high quality graphics!

Therefore, based on my experience, I advice all Vista users out there who updated their game by using the 1.36 patch to upgrade version 1.33 to uninstall the whole thing and install version 1.36 NOWHERE IN C, and by that I mean

A- NOT ON C: Such as C:TalesOfPiratesOnline
B- NOT ON ANY FOLDER ON C: Such as C:/Program Files 86x/TalesOfPiratesOnline
C- NOT ON ANY SUB-FOLDER ON C: Such as C:/My Documents/Games/TalesOfPiratesOnline

In conclusion, what do you need to do in order to get Version 1.36 installed and running smoothly on Windows Vista?

Get a tech buddy (we all have one, don't we?) to do a partition D: on your disk (it is also useful for other things, ask your tech buddy), and install the game there.

If you don't have a tech buddy to do a partition for you, and only have C: and you really don't want to experiment with partitions yourself, on my original thread asking for help I was also adviced to do this:

Use a external HD (Hard Drive) or burn the program to a disk and use it from that.

Since cd's are 800MB, and the game installed takes about a little more than 1G without the patch included (not that you would not need the patch,is good to keep the patches handy fot those times when the servers are loaded and you don't get to auto retrieve the patch from the servers) it seems like installing it on a DVD is a good way to go...
Or if you have some extra cash, get an external Hard Drive (useful for a lot of things too, tell your parents you need it to clear up computer space for school projects)

I'm sooo happy!!

(After like half hour, i turned the speakers off...geez, that music gets annoying!!)
