WheresLupers' Guide for Fighters

Welcome!

The idea of this section is to tell you who I am! So let’s get to that. My main toon is a level 58 UM fighter named .WheresLupers, but my friends call me Chi. I’m making this guide to try and help out those people who would like to try the fighter class or to make the lives of those who already have a fighter just a little bit easier (and there are LOTS of fighters out there).

I’ve spent many many hours on this guide, and expect to spend many more updating and revising it. However, it is still not complete, and I’ll need lots of help to finish it up. In places I am missing screenshots, and in some places I am missing information. If you can help me with these things, it will make this guide better for the other people reading it. If you have ideas, critiques, etc, I am happy to hear them. Post them or pm me and I’ll see what I can do. I did my best not to include any names/personal items in any of my screens, however, if you have a problem in that regard, please send me a message.

I originally dreamt up this guide almost 3 months ago, and started working on it then. My guild has been helpful and supportive of me (thanks guys!) and I hope to make it better with the help of you, the people reading/using it.

This guide was created with the current version of Shaiya. Episode 4 is coming out soon (we think), and in places I have commented on possible Episode 4 builds/ideas. But this guide is focused on Episode 3.

This is not a warrior guide, it is a fighter guide. Sorry, but I simply do not have the expertise or characters to make a warrior version. If some enterprising person is inspired and would like to, go right ahead and good luck to you.

With that said, I hope this guide is helpful to you. Thank you in advance for taking time out of your life to read it and maybe give me advice, help, and/or suggestions.

Why A Fighter

Lupers is not my first fighter. I also played a fighter when I first entered the game, as my NM toon, just as many people do. Fighter is an optimal choice for a first toon, because they can party or go independent easily, level quickly, have a quick learning curve, and are very strong at high levels.

The good things first:
· Fighters are close range attackers. They rely on attacks that do large amounts of damage quickly based on their strength stat.
· They receive +1 strength per level automatically
· Fighters do not need parties. They can solo easily and gain good exp doing it. This is great so that a player does not have to wait for a party.
· On the other hand, fighters can party well also. Often a duo with a priest is a wonderful way to get good exp as the fighter can take on mobs normally too hard for him/her.
· Fighters also get multiple AOE’s. An aoe is an “Area of Effect” attack. What this means is that the attack hits every enemy in an area. Look for things like “hits all within 10 meters”. These attacks come in handy when you have several mobs attacking you at once.
· Fighters are the classic killers in PVP. They can take some damage and deal damage amazingly quickly, one or two-hitting many of the squishier builds.

The bad things:
· Fighters are close range only. A good archer or mage (or even an int-based priest) can deal huge amounts of damage to you before you are even close enough to hit them. There are a few ways around this. The skill “Stinger” can get you to an enemy quickly and stun them for a few seconds, and “Eagle Eye” will negate ranged physical (i.e. not magic) attacks against you for a short time.
· They may be strong, but a good archer or mage can have better DPS and will be able to kill bosses faster.

The Modes

One of the more unique aspects of Shaiya is the mode system. Once you have reached level 40 (it used to be 50) in a mode you unlock the next mode and when you make a new character will have the option to choose that new mode. Each mode has it’s own benefits. Lvl 60 is the highest level possible on all modes except Easy Mode, and Ultimate Mode is the final unlockable mode.

Easy Mode: Don’t use this mode. Just don’t. You can only reach lvl30, do not get special skills, and can’t unlock any modes with it.

Normal Mode: Here is where the new player should begin. A Normal Mode player gets 5 stat points per level and 3 skill points per level. They can wear up to Dread gear. People generally play NM in order to unlock HM at level 40, but that is not always the case. Some people have exceptionally strong NM characters in the high lvl50s. As a NM fighter, you want to kill safely and easily. A death in NM means a loss of exp, depending on how good your “bless” is…the game wide boost you have based on how the faction’s PVPers are doing. At no bless, you will lose 5% exp per death. At half bless, you will lose 0%, and it alters slightly depending on levels of bless between those two points.

Hard Mode: Ah, hard mode. A Hard Mode player receives 7 stat points per level, which offers more room for variation and to develop your own style. You also receive 4 skill points per level, can wear Legend armor, and get a few special skills not available to NMs. However, Hard Mode requires roughly 4 times the exp of Normal Mode. Some people stop at Hard Mode and never make the switch to UM, preferring to avoid Ultimate Mode’s dangers. Here you also will lose exp for a death.

Ultimate Mode: If you just unlocked Ultimate Mode, congratulations. This mode gives you the strongest possible character. This does not mean you are invincible, far from it. A well-lapised NM player of the same level can still kill you. Mobs can still kill you. Be careful, for UM has its own curse. Here it is. Ready?
IF YOU DIE AS AN ULTIMATE MODE CHARACTER AND DO NOT HAVE A SPECIAL ITEM (A RESS RUNE) AND ARE NOT RESSED BY A PRIEST WITHIN 180 SECONDS, THAT CHARACTER IS DELETED!

….I’ll let that sink in for a second.

Yes, deleted. Yes, forever. (Excepting ONE situation. Recently there was a AP promo where for approximately 75 US dollars (7500 AP points) you could resurrect a lost UM character). But excepting that happening again, your UM will be gone for good. Anything in their inventory or equipped on them will be gone as well. Anything in their Warehouse will be preserved however.
So you want to know about ress runes, I suspect. A ress rune is an AP item that, when in your character’s inventory, will save him/her if they die and are not ressed by a priest within the time limit. They can be purchased in-game for 299 ap or bought from other players in Apulune for around 10-11 million gold. An Ultimate Mode character should ALWAYS have at least one of these on them at ALL TIMES.
There, I warned you.

Now that you are sufficiently warned, the benefits of UM. You do not lose exp on a death (just can lose your toon). It requires the same amount of exp as HM. You get 9 stat points per level and 5 skill points. You get special skills that HM doesn’t get. You can wear Goddess gear. You are, base stats in mind only, the strongest type of toon out there.

What Build Should I Use

Builds for every class and mode are highly debated, contested, and argued over. I’m going to list a few of the more common ones for each mode.

First, the stats of the game. Each level you can add to 6 different stats if you wish. They are:

Strength: Adds to physical attack power. Simply, how much damage you do. Get it.

Dexterity: Increases your hit percentage with physical attacks against enemies, adds to evade, your ability to make enemies miss, and also gives SP, which is a must for fighter skills (Also adds good physical attack power for rangers, and a small amount of physical attack power for fighters). Get it.

Wisdom: Adds to healing abilities (a fighter has none), increases your magic resist (might be useful if you fight lots of mages/priests); increases chance to hit for magic attacks; increases MP (needed for some skills, but not important enough to waste stat points). Skip it.

Intelligence: Adds to magic attack power. You are a fighter, you don’t use magic. Enough said. Skip it.

Rec: Adds a little hp per point, always good. Also increases your defense, which means you take less damage from physical attacks. Nice to have.

Luck: Every five points increases your critical hit % by 1%. Nice to have some, but you have to decide for yourself if it works for you (Also adds physical attack power for archers only).

For NM:
You are just getting into the game. You want a build that will let you safely level while not killing you. Builds are typically named based on what your stats go into per lvl.

  • 3 str/ 2 dex per level: This is the most common NM build. It is preferred for easy killing to quickly level. The strength will increase your attack power, while the dex will increase your chance to hit and decrease your chance of getting hit.
  • 3 str/ 1 rec/ 1 dex: This build features slightly less chance to hit but increased defense. Personally I prefer more dex. Missing over and over is one of the more depressing things to see your fighter do, but you will take less damage.
  • 2 str/ 1 rec/ 2 dex: This build gives you that increased defense while retaining the ability to hit more often, but with less damage per hit.
  • 5 luc: I would not suggest this build. Luck gives you 1% chance to crit per 5 luck. As a NM you simply don’t have enough stat points to make this build worth it, and your attack power will suffer.

For HM:
Here you have a little more points to play around with and develop your own style if you like without having to worry about the costs of UM.

  • 5 str/2 dex: Again, the typical fighter build. Strong and hits well, but kinda squishy (not much defense).
  • 5 str/ 1 dex/ 1 rec: Again, this build features slightly less chance to hit but increased defense. Personally I prefer more dex. Missing over and over is one of the more depressing things to see your fighter do, but you will take less damage.
  • 7 luck: This is slightly more viable for HM then NM, but I still do not advise it. Since fighters have a buff to increase crit % by 15, and since 95% is the highest crit percentage, you would need 400 luck in order to get the max crit. With 7 stats per level that would take you til level 58, and meanwhile you will have no strength and no dex, excepting from gear. Making a luck fighter is a precariously balanced system.

For UM:
In UM and maybe as early as HM you are probably ready to abandon the “stats per level” system. Because you will be lapising your gear, you can get some of the required stats (such as dex), from lapises rather then stats.

  • 150 Dex, all the rest Strength: A typical build +/- 50 dex. I prefer a little more dex, but some people like less. This is insanely strong, but again, you are a little squishy.
  • 100-150 Dex, 100-150 Rec, Rest Strength: This keeps the hitting and adds a good amount of extra hp and defense, with slightly less strength.
  • 200-300 Luck, 100-200 Dex, Rest Strength: This adds the ability to critical often, which can quickly overwhelm an enemy with huge damage. 300 Luck + the 15% buff will give you a 75% crit chance.
  • 300-400 Dex, Rest Strength: This build I only recently heard about. You will be really really hard to hit, almost never miss, and that damage adds up fast. Good for pvp, not sure about grinding.
The Skills of a Fighter:

First some things to note. This skill list and ideas are meant for Episode 3 only. Once Episode 4 comes out a few things will be different and I will outline those things here.

First, spears will be faster from weapon mastery that will be added. This means that a spear fighter will be viable, especially using the level 52 epic, which has a faster attack speed then a normal spear. But most people will still rather use other weapons. One possible idea for spears will be to start a battle with a spear deadly strike, doing major damage.

Second, fighters will gain the use of 1-hand and 2-hand Heavy Weapons. However, they will have limited skill usage. From what I know they will have masteries, but will be unable to use windspin or deadly strike. This will prevent them ever becoming mainstream weapon builds for fighters, in my opinion. Using a 1-hand heavy weapon and shield will gain a fighter extra lapis slots and stats, but I doubt many people will be willing to lose deadly strike and windspin for those slots.

Third, and perhaps most important, 2-handers are going to be much better. Episode 4 allows them to use Deadly Strike, a speed increase will make them as fast as dual swords, and the Epic 2-hander will have to ability to change elements (right now it is always water-based). These changes will make the 2-hander the fighter weapon of choice for both grinding and PvP (again, in my opinion).

Ok onward to the skills:

Two Handed Power-Up
If you are NM, you will probably not be using Two handers much. If you are HM or UM, and planning to self-aoe (and to be honest, why wouldn’t you?), then you will want this, max it. (Especially in E4)
Level 1: Raises physical attack power by 5 when using a 2 Handed Sword (Level 5 )
Level 2: Raises physical attack power by 12 when using a 2 Handed Sword (Level 16 )
Level 3: Raises physical attack power by 20 when using a 2 Handed Sword (Level 25 )

Spear Power-Up
Spears will be slightly better in Episode 4 then they are now. But they still will not be great. I would ignore this skill.
Level 1: Raises physical attack power by 5 when using a Spear (Level 5 )
Level 2: Raises physical attack power by 12 when using a Spear (Level 16 )
Level 3: Raises physical attack power by 20 when using a Spear (Level 25 )

Dual Weapon Power-Up
NM, HM, or UM, you should be using Duals at some point. Whether for PvP, grinding, or boss killing, you will want anything possible to make your duals more powerful. Max this. (Exception might be a total 2-hander build in E4)
Level 1: Raises physical attack power by 5 when using Dual Swords (Level 5 )
Level 2: Raises physical attack power by 12 when using Dual Swords (Level 16 )
Level 3: Raises physical attack power by 20 when using Dual Swords (Level 25 )

Extra room for holding stuffs. If you hate to throw stuff away, you will want this. Even if you are trying to conserve points, the first upgrade is only 1 point. Take the first level for sure and the others are optional (but I like them).
Level 1: Receive an additional backpack slot for holding items (Level 20 )
Level 2: Receive an additional backpack slot for holding items (Level 36 )
Level 3: Receive an additional backpack slot for holding items (Level 46 )

If you are PvPing, or planning to grind the new maps later in your fighter’s life, you will want this.
Level 1: Understand 30% of what opposing faction says (in PvP or Smuggler’s Hideout) (Level 13 )
Level 2: Understand 60% of what opposing faction says (in PvP or Smuggler’s Hideout) (Level 22 )

Level 2: Increase attack speed by 2 when equipped with Two Handed Swords (Level 35 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Spear Mastery
If you are primarily a spear user, this is a must-have. If not, then you can safely ignore this.
Level 1: Increase attack speed by 1 when equipped with Spears (Level 14 )
Level 2: Increase attack speed by 1 when equipped with Spears (Level 35 )
Level 3: Increase attack speed by 1 when equipped with Spears (Episode 4 only)

Level 2: Increase attack speed by 1 when equipped with Dual Swords (Level 35 )

Basic Skills

Stinger
This skill is awesome for chasing down a fleeing target in PvP. I’d consider taking the first level of it even for non-pvpers. If you are going to grind the new maps or PvP, max it eventually.
Level 1: Instantly teleports to target enemy within 19 meters and deals 15 damage, and stuns (Level 1 )
Level 2: Instantly teleports to target enemy within 20 meters and deals 30 damage, and stuns for 2 seconds (Level 12 )
Level 3: Instantly teleports to target enemy within 22 meters, deals 50 damage, and stuns for 3 seconds(Level 29 )

Concentration
Max max max max max. This skill is awesome. Increases how often you hit.
Level 1: Increases physical attack success rate by 7% for 5 minutes (Level 3 )
Level 2: Increases physical attack success rate by 14% for 5 minutes (Level 17 )
Level 3: Increases physical attack success rate by 21% for 5 minutes (Level 30 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Double Damage
Some people like this skill. If you are NM you might consider it. It makes grinding early in the game easier, but especially in HM or UM you are going to want those points back later. It deals a piddly 300 extra damage for 80 SP. SP is precious to a fighter, don’t waste it. Later in game when you have your attack pattern down, the start of a good attack pattern will have refreshed by the time you finish, and all do way more damage per SP then this skill.
Level 1: Deals basic attack power + 50 damage (Level 3 )
Level 2: Deals basic attack power + 166 damage (Level 15 )
Level 3: Deals basic attack power + 298 damage (Level 27 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Bash
Awesome buff. Max it.

Level 2: Increases critical rate by 10% for 5 minutes (Level 18 )
Level 3: Increases critical rate by 15% for 5 minutes (Level 31 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Heavy Swat
Later in game a good fighter can do more damage then this in a single basic attack. Ignore this.
Level 1: Deals 200 damage to target over 30 seconds (Level 9 )
Level 2: Deals 350 damage to target over 30 seconds (Level 19 )
Level 3: Deals 650 damage to target over 30 seconds (Level 28 )

Speedy Attack HM/UM Only
Max it. Awesome for bosses and PvP.
Level 1: Increases attack speed by 2 for 20 seconds (Level 10 )
Level 2: Increases attack speed by 2 for 30 seconds (Level 22 )
Level 3: Increases attack speed by 2 for 45 seconds (Level 39 )

Damage Skills

Rising Crash
I love this skill. It increases the damage of all the following skills. Rising Crash followed by Deadly Strike = pwnage. This skill also is a good first attack to any attack pattern as it will position you automatically to make sure all your other attacks are within range. However this attack may be most viable only against single mobs/targets. An NM fighter should probably max it, other modes can consider it.
Level 1: Deals normal damage and decreases defense of target by 9 for 6 seconds (Level 2 )
Level 2: Deals normal damage and decreases defense of target by 21 for 6 seconds (Level 10 )
Level 3: Deals normal damage and decreases defense of target by 34 for 6 seconds (Level 24 )

Ground Shock
This attack does not work with Dual Swords, but is usable with all other types. Does not require a target for it to go off (pure aoe). If you will be doing self-aoe, this is one of your premiere attacks. It should be near the front of your attack pattern, as it slows attack speeds, recharges quickly (10 seconds), and reduces the overall damage you’ll take. Also useful in PvP to lower enemies attack speeds. If you are NM you might be able to skip it, otherwise max it.
Level 1: Damages all enemies within 6 meters and decreases their attack speed by 1 for 8 seconds (Level 4 )
Level 2: Damages all enemies within 6 meters and decreases their attack speed by 2 for 10 seconds (Level 19 )
Level 3: Damages all enemies within 6 meters and decreases their attack speed by 3 for 15 seconds (Level 38 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Wind Spin
Does not work with spears or one hand swords. This attack requires a target to be selected (targeted aoe). This is an awesome attack skill whether for PvP, grinding one on one, or for aoe. If you are going to self-aoe this is another of the big 4 aoe skills. MAX it.
Level 1: Wounds any enemy within 6 meters for basic attack power (Level 8 )
Level 2: Wounds any enemy within 6 meters for 2x basic attack power (Level 18 )
Level 3: Wounds any enemy within 10 meters for 2x basic attack power (Level 34 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Energy Control UM Only
Max it. SP is precious.
Level 1: Increases max SP by 500 for 30 minutes (Level 11 )
Level 2: Increases max SP by 600 for 30 minutes (Level 21 )
Level 3: Increases max SP by 800 for 30 minutes (Level 40 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Deadly Strike
Does not work for two hand swords yet, but will in Episode 4. If someone tells you to not max this skill…uhm, yeah. Just max it. The premiere damage skill for Dual Weapons and in Episode 4 Two handers can use it too! Pure, condensed awesome in a bottle. Max max max.
Level 1: Damages a single target for 2x attack power (Level 13 )
Level 2: Damages a single target for 3x attack power (Level 23 )
Level 3: Damages a single target for 3x attack power + 80 damage each (Level 37 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Dual Weapon Storm
Dual weapons only, to a single target. This attack does very little extra damage for a hefty SP cost. Skip it.
Level 1: Deals basic attack power + 164 (Level 32 )
Level 2: Deals basic attack power + 237 (Level 42 )
Level 3: Deals basic attack power + 381 (Level 55 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Wild Dance
Two hand weapons only, to a single target. Why attack a single target with a two hand sword anyway? Use your duals for attacking single targets (unless at the end of a aoe cycle and they should be nearly dead in that case). Also, this attack does very little extra damage for a hefty SP cost. Skip it.
Level 1: Deals basic attack power + 164 (Level 32 )
Level 2: Deals basic attack power + 237 (Level 42 )
Level 3: Deals basic attack power + 381 (Level 52 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Enhanced Wind Spin HM/UM Only
Does not work with spears or one hand swords. This attack does not require a target to be selected (pure aoe). Another of the big 4 aoe skills. Max it!
Level 1: Wounds any enemy within 6 meters for 2x basic attack power (Level 33 )
Level 2: Wounds any enemy within 6 meters for 2x basic attack power + 160 (Level 47 )
Level 3: Wounds any enemy within 10 meters for 2x basic attack power + 190 (Level 57 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Pollution Zone HM/UM Only
Works for spears and one hand swords only. Does not require a target (pure aoe). You probably won’t be using spears. Some people do like one hand swords and I admit that build has its merits, but you likely are not using one. Skip this.
Level 1: Causes 328 damage to all enemies within 4 meters over 12 seconds (Level 33 )
Level 2: Causes 428 damage to all enemies within 6 meters over 12 seconds (Level 43 )
Level 3: Causes 528 damage to all enemies within 8 meters over 12 seconds (Level 53 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Wild Wild Dance HM/UM Only
Two hand swords only. Does not require a target (pure aoe). The last of the big 4 aoe skills. This one let’s all your subsequent attacks do extra damage. Max it.
Level 1: Damages all targets within 4 meters for basic attack power and decreases their defense by 34 for 10 seconds (Level 34 )
Level 2: Damages all targets within 6 meters for basic attack power and decreases their defense by 44 for 10 seconds (Level 44 )
Level 3: Damages all targets within 8 meters for basic attack power and decreases their defense by 57 for 10 seconds (Level 54 )

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
Wild Rage
One hand weapons only, to a single target. If you are doing a one hand sword build, you might consider taking this, but this attack still does very little extra damage for a hefty SP cost. Skip it.
Level 1: Deals basic attack power + 191 (Level 36 )
Level 2: Deals basic attack power + 278 (Level 47 )
Level 3: Deals basic attack power + 381 (Level 58 )

Leadership
Max it. Extra damage = awesome.
Level 1: Increases physical attack power of all party members within 100 meters by 13 for 10 minutes (Level 7 )
Level 2: Increases physical attack power of all party members within 100 meters by 25 for 10 minutes (Level 24 )
Level 3: Increases physical attack power of all party members within 100 meters by 41 for 10 minutes (Level 51 )

Eagle Eye
If you are ever going to grind new maps or PvP, max this. You could just wait on it until a higher level if you are not planning to PvP in 1-15 or 20-30.
Level 1: Avoids all physical ranged attacks (bow/javelin) for 9 seconds (Level 9 )
Level 2: Avoids all physical ranged attacks (bow/javelin) for 12 seconds (Level 23 )
Level 3: Avoids all physical ranged attacks (bow/javelin) for 15 seconds (Level 41 )

Potential Power
This can save your butt. Not only does it make you more powerful, you attack at least twice as fast. Against a boss or mob this can mean the difference between life and death, especially if you wait until it activates then use a potion. Max it.
Level 1: Passively raises attack power by 30 and increases attack speed by 1 when HP falls below 10%, once every 180 seconds (Level 17 )
Level 2: Passively raises attack power by 75 and increases attack speed by 2 when HP falls below 10%, once every 180 seconds (Level 29 )
Level 3: Passively raises attack power by 120 and increases attack speed by 2 when HP falls below 10%, once every 180 seconds (Level 50 )

Beserk Fighter
I am not a fan of lowering my own defense. The only time I would consider using this is if I had a priest healing me, and frankly, it costs too many skill points for me to get something only useful in that type of situation.
Level 1: Lowers own defense by 50, increases physical attack power by 50 for 20 seconds (Level 20 )
Level 2: Lowers own defense by 75, increases physical attack power by 100 for 20 seconds (Level 31 )
Level 3: Lowers own defense by 100, increases physical attack power by 150 for 20 seconds (Level 43 )

Dragon Slayer
This can be awesome against a high level boss, but you can only use it once every 10 minutes. I don’t think it’s worth the skill points unless you are in a high level guild that will have the chance to attack those end-game bosses. If you are, then this skill is essential.
Level 1: Decreases targets HP by 3% (Level 20 )
Level 2: Decreases targets HP by 5% (Level 30 )
Level 3: Decreases targets HP by 7% (Level 44 )

Demon Hushing
At first I thought this skill didn’t have much use except in PvP. I’ve changed my mind. You quickly run out of SP while spamming it, but it does good damage very quickly. Also, some mobs (*cough* newmaptrollboss *cough*) will decrease your attack power to very close to zero when they get low on health, but the added damage of this skill (the +280) still does full damage. I’d max it if you have the points.
Level 1: Attacks target for basic attack power + 101 with no cooldown. Has a range of 5 meters (Level 36 )
Level 2: Attacks target for basic attack power + 168 with no cooldown. Has a range of 5 meters (Level 46 )
Level 3: Attacks target for basic attack power + 280 with no cooldown. Has a range of 5 meters (Level 56 )

Eraser
This can be a fun skill, but I’m not going to waste that many points on it.
Level 2 and 3 require a target (targeted aoe). If the attack misses (35% chance), then the user still dies.

Level 1: Kills self and deals damage to target equal to user’s remaining HP with a 65% success rate (Level 37 )
Level 2: Kills self and deals damage to all enemies within 6 meters equal to user’s remaining HP with a 65% success rate (Level 45 )
Level 3: Kills self and deals damage to all enemies within 6 meters equal to 2x user’s remaining HP with a 65% success rate (Level 57 )

**** Lord HM/UM Only
Requires a target to use (targeted aoe). Amazing skill. This has saved my butt when I grab too many mobs for a self aoe. If you get low on health in PvP, self-aoe, or grinding, just set it off. Incredible damage to everything around me? Sign me up.
Level 1: Does damage equal to 3x basic attack power to enemies within 6 meters (Level 49 )
Level 2: Does damage equal to 3x basic attack power + 386 damage to enemies within 6 meters (Level 59 )

Regina Power UM Only (until E4)
SAVE POINTS FOR THIS SKILL. It requires 9 skill points so make sure you will have enough. After all, if you are going to go all the way to UM level 60, you better be intending to take this skill. Requires a target to use (targeted aoe). In Episode 4 HM level 60 players will also have a version of this skill but for now it is for UM only.
Level 1: Damages all opponents within 10 meters by 87% of their maximum HP. Has a range of 5 meters (Level 60 )

What the Pretty Colors Mean

The name of a mob will be colored when you click on it or run your mouse over the mob. This is not just decoration.

White: Many levels below your level. Will give no exp for killing it.
Light Blue: Several levels below you. Will be really easy to kill and give little exp.
Dark Blue: Fairly easy to kill but not very good exp.
Green: The mob is your level +/- 1. This is a good color to grind on for NM.
Yellow: The mob is 2-3 levels above you. Will give good exp. Best for HM/UM.
Orange: 4-5 levels above you. You will start to be penalized in attack power but will get great exp.
Red: 5-6 levels above you. You will have an incredibly hard time killing this mob and it will do extra damage to you.
Purple: This mob will be nearly impossible to kill but you will get awesome exp.
Gray: This mob is so hard for you to kill that they won’t even give you exp for it on the off chance you somehow succeed.

Keep in mind that killing several lower level mobs without having to rest will give more exp overall then taking on one high level mobs, barely surviving, and having to rest before you are able to try to kill another one.

Elements

Elements are an interesting and somewhat complicated aspect of Shaiya. First, there are 4 elements. Each one is good against a certain other element and bad against another. The elements are:

Fire > Wind > Earth > Water > Fire

When you target a mob, there is not only a color of their name, but there is a circle on the left hand side.

This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.

This circle will be either gray, or filled with a little picture. If it is gray then the mob is non-elemental. Otherwise it is aligned with an element in the following way:

Weapons and Armor can be elemental, or made elemental through use of an "Elemental Lapis". The level 45 Epic two-handed sword is a free water-elemental sword that can be received through a level 43 quest in Silveran.
If you are attacking a mob (or a member of the opposite faction with an elemental armor), your damage will be altered by the percentages on the following chart (+/- 25% or +/-50%) or not altered at all (100%). Any element will do extra damage against a non-element armor/mob.

How to Grind

How should you grind for each mode? Well that partially depends on your build and own playing style. Some people prefer parties, some prefer solo, and some like to alternate. I’ll try to give a few personal insights on each.

For NM:
In NM you generally need to do a 1v1 style. Attack one mob, kill it, make sure you are healthy, kill another mob. This is a fast, efficient, and generally safe way to level. In NM you simply do not have the lapises, the health, or the experience to take on more then one or two mobs at a time. You also have less AoE attacks then HM or UM fighters, so attacking more then one mob serves little purpose. You should go after green mobs and maybe a few yellows. Keep in mind that killing several smaller mobs without needing to rest gives more exp overall then barely killing a higher level mob and needing to rest constantly. The best weapon for solo killing is the dual weapons, for their speed and quick damage skills (like Deadly Strike). In E4 a 2-hander will also be a viable option, and maybe (maybe) even a spear build.

For HM:
Alright, you have a HM fighter now. HM fighters get a few skills NM fighters don’t. Most important of these is the extra AoE attack. You can now efficiently gather a few mobs to you, set off all your AoE skills, and kill them all at about the same time. Find an area with a large amount of green or yellow mobs, run around aggro-ing (get close enough that they chase you) some, wait until they all get close to you, and set off all your AoE skills in a row (see the “Self-Aoeing” section of this guide). If you are planning to grind this way often (and it is the fastest way for a fighter to level), either befriend a priest to heal you, or add some rec into your build so that you don’t die from all those mobs before you can kill them. The best weapon for aoe is a 2-hand sword, as it has the most AoEs.

For UM:
Similar to HM, but now you can probably afford to put some rec into your build to make AoEing easier. Yellow mobs are your friend, maybe even some orange ones. I would never suggest trying to AoE reds or higher.
On the other hand, if you are trying to make a boss killer, which many people like, you do not want to add any rec. Your preferred build is as high a strength as possible with only a little dex, and avoiding all other stats. To level as this build though, you will either need to go back to the NM grinding fashion of 1v1, or AoE with lower level mobs. Again, a 2hander is preferred for AoE, but you should keep a dual weapon for bosses, PvP, or 1 by 1 mob killing.

Self-Aoeing

Alright, so you are probably HM or UM and want to level uber fast. Maybe you’ve even added in some rec to your build to give you some extra survivability (if so I applaud you). Here’s how I like to go about it.
Find an area with a good little group of green or yellow mobs close together. Then run around collecting a bunch of them so they are all chasing you. Stop to get them to bunch up and run into the middle of the group.
Then set off all your aoe skills in a row using a two hand weapon. Be advised. Some aoe skills do not require a target. If you click them and are not near any mobs, they will still go off and be wasted. Use a targeted skill to make sure you are in position or just be careful to make sure you are in position before using a non-targeted aoe (listed as “pure aoes” in the skill section).
I like targeting a mob, using Rising Crush to align myself next to that mob in the group, then Ground Shock, Wild Wild Dance, Windspin, Enhanced Windspin. If that doesn’t kill them (and it probably won’t), wait until the skills cool down, potting (using potions) if you need to, and do it again (Rising Crash probably won’t be needed the second time unless you are kiting)
Why that order? Ground Shock slows their attack, meaning I take less damage, and Wild Wild Dance lowers their defense, which means the hard hitting Wind Spins do more damage. Try your own patterns and find something that works best for you, everyone is different. Just have fun with it.

How to PvP

PvPing with a fighter can be an awesome experience. As a fighter you are a killing machine. PvP, however, is not a solo experience. In order to be a good PvPer you need to learn to work in a party and attack the enemy together as a team.
PvP involves you as Alliance attacking the opposing side, the Fury, over a “Relic”. The relic is a alter-like item that can be attacked and destroyed, with you then automatically creating a new alter in its place that belongs to your faction. The opposing faction will try to destroy your relic and make their own in its place. The more relics the faction controls in all the PvP zones, the better the faction-wide Bless becomes, which gives bonuses to all players in your faction. If you capture enough relics to fully fill the Bless Bar on the bottom right of the screen, your faction receives “Full Bless” for ten minutes. This includes better lapis linking percentage, faster HP, SP, and MP regeneration (even when not sitting), highly increased Critical hit percentage, lower cooldown time on potions, and an increase in every single one of your stats. So PvP is quite important, not just for you in PvP, but for every fellow Alliance member in every map.

Some special PvP Fighter builds:

These are some ideas for builds in PvP. They can be used to great effect when in a party or against the enemy faction, but not typically against mobs for varying reasons. The grinding fighter builds listed earlier in this guide can of course be used for PvP, and often are very good, these are just some PvP specific alternatives. Just keep in mind that the main problem with these builds is difficulty leveling.
Also consider that Elemental Lapises, along with other, more standard, lapising jobs, can make a huge difference in PvP. Attacking a enemy with the strong element to you versus one who is weak to you will be the difference between winning and losing. Also, if you are lapised with level 3 lapises, and an enemy has all level 5s....expect to lose assuming mode, etc is similar. Again parties/teamwork is your friend in PvP.

  • Full Strength: This build is only recommended for a Nos user. Otherwise you will rarely (or never) hit enemies.
  • Full Luck: Generally this build is for 1-60 PvP. In 1-15 you will not have enough luck to crit very often and your physical attack power will be low. In 20-30 you will start critting regularly, but your physical attack power will still suffer. By the time you get to 1-60 you can easily have 400 luc (+15% crit from buff) to give you a full 95% crit rate, and still have enough strength for moderate attack power.
  • Mostly Rec: This can be a fun build in any PvP. In 1-15 you will be very hard to kill except by magic users, and can distract enemies while your party members take them down. Similarly, in 20-30 you can have excellent rec and still have enough strength to hurt enemies. In 1-60 not only can you serve as a tank, but a well placed Eraser (with a priest nearby) can take out all but the strongest of defenders/guards due to your increased hp and defense.
  • Mostly Dex: This is a very interesting build. The large amount of dex will let you hit even those pesky rangers/assassins. It also means you will be hit far less often thanks to your evasion. Attack power will suffer, but not as much as with a luck build, becuase dex gives a small amount of attack power to fighters. I would recommend adding a good amount of strength with this build in addition to the dex.
  • Any combo of these builds can of course be used. Also, it is not necessary to limit yourself to base stats only. Lapises can add a large amount of stats for relatively cheap. If you want to go more expensive, of course you can do that too.

Fighter vs. Enemy:

  • Vs. Fighter/Warrior: Usually the winner is whoever hits first and/or has the better build. If the enemy has lots of rec they may just try to distract you until their party can finish you off.
  • Vs. Defender/Guard: Very very hard to kill but usually can’t hurt you either. Unless they are a battle def, then they are hard to kill AND can kill you. Use skills that do lots of damage fast and preferably gang up on them.
  • Vs. Mage/Pagan: Most mages are squishy and a single stinger/deadly strike combo will make them croak. However, unless you have some wis in your build or in lapises they can do good damage to you. The stun on stinger will help prevent them from getting that chance.
  • Vs. Priest/Oracle: A NM/HM priest will usually go down in similar fashion as a mage. UM priests sometimes have huge amounts of rec and will only distract you while their party beats on you. Beware the Int Priest. They do huge amounts of damage fast, so stinger in and finish them off.
  • Vs. Ranger/Assasion: Squishy but can keep you stunned. Carry some dispel pots and as soon as one breaks cover to attack you, use one and Deadly Strike / Wind Spin them.
  • Vs. Archer/Hunter: Eagle eye is your friend. Click it, stinger in, and Deadly Strike/Wind Spin them to death. If they try running, chase until Stinger refreshes and stun them again.
What to wear…what to wear?

Here begins the Armor Guide for fighter. Any blanks indicate that I have no knowledge of where that piece is found or that there are none available in this version of Shaiya yet. If you know of something that I have not recorded please let me know. Updates help not only me, but everyone who reads this guide.
I would like to start by noting that there are 7 levels of armor: Regular, Noble, Worship, Heroic, Dread, Legend, and Goddess. Here is the breakdown:

  • Regular: Have 0 slots for lapis, and can generally be bought from merchants in various cities that are noted below. If you get some from mobs that you can not use, I recommend just selling them to an NPC, most players will not bother buying them.
  • Noble: 1 Slot. With the exception of AP promo items, noble armor is the most slots you can get in 1-15 PVP. Noble armors are given from quest rewards and can also be found in Cornwell Dungeon.
  • Worship: 2 Slots. Some special AP promo items, such as the Worship Helmet and the very very rare Worship lvl 8-11 armor set, can be used in 1-15 PVP. Also, worship plate armor can be used in PVP 20-30, but heroic is definitely preferred, though more expensive.
  • Heroic: 3 Slots. The best pants and amor available for 20-30 PVP with the exception of a few rare legend plate and the dread plate helmet.
  • Dread: 4 Slots. Important mainly because NM’s can not wear legend or goddess gear.
  • Legend: 5 Slots. Since Goddess gear is extremely rare, this is the gear most HM/UM players depend on. Also, it is a different color then all other levels of the armor, so makes a good status symbol if you are into that. NM/HM’s cannot wear Goddess gear.
  • Goddess: 6 Slots. Only UM players can wear this type of gear. It is drastically different in look then the other armor levels of the same type.

Goddess: Drops from the dragon form of the Freezing Mirage boss. . He is located in a big lake south of Arktus VIII just west of the lighthouse. I would suggest not trying to kill him unless you have at least one party of Lvl60’s. Spawn Time: 1 week.

Mithril Helm
Level 44
Regular: From a level 43 quest in the Huig Stronghold on map 3. You have to trade 30 pint cores for it. They drop from most map 3 mobs.
5-Slot: Note that this is NOT a legend helm. It is a 5-slot helm, which means it is not a special color, it can be worn by NM players, and has no MP/SP/HP or defense bonuses. Is only available from AP offers and at the moment is the best helm for 1-60 PVP.

Weapons

Here begins the Weapon Guide for fighter. Any blanks indicate that I have no knowledge of where that piece is found or that there are none available in this version of Shaiya yet. If you know of something that I have not recorded please let me know. Updates help not only me, but everyone who reads this guide.
I would like to start by noting that there are 7 levels of each weapon, just like armor: Regular, Noble, Worship, Heroic, Dread, Legend, and Goddess.

6 stats. Noble weapons are the most slots you can get in 1-15 PVP. Noble weapons are given from quest rewards and can also be found in Cornwell Dungeon.
  • Worship: 2 Slots. 12 slots. Worship weapons can be used in PVP 20-30, but heroic is definitely preferred, though more expensive.
  • Heroic: 3 Slots. 18 stats. The best weapons for 20-30 PVP with the exception of a few rare legend stuffs floating around.
  • Dread: 4 Slots. 24 stats. Important mainly because NM’s can not use legend or goddess gear.
  • Legend: 5 Slots. 30 stats. Since Goddess items are extremely rare, this is the weapon most HM/UM players depend on. Also, it has a colored aura (usually blue), unlike all other levels of the weapon, so makes a good status symbol if you are into that. NM/HM’s cannot wear Goddess gear.
  • Goddess: 6 Slots. 36 stats. Only UM players can wear this type of gear. Also, it has a colored aura (usually red), unlike all other levels of the weapon, so makes a good status symbol if you are into that.

Pando “Event” Weapons/Shields

All Pando “drop limits” have very good stats and 4 slots. Because of the recent market flood of them, they are very cheap and a very good value compared to the much more expensive legend weapons at similar levels. The screens listed here only have one possibility of the many stat combos that can be found on these items.
The level 39-45 weapons could be found by killing earth trolls, water mobs, and parasites. The level 46-49 weapons could be found by killing fire monkeys, fire trolls, and fire larvae.

I am missing two fighter Pando weapons and the Nomoun Shield. If anyone who can provide me with those screens I would greatly appreciate it (Or even loan them to me for a minute in-game so that the screenshots match up).

Maps

Erina (Map 1):
This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
You will be in this map from level 1 to around level 20, after which you can safely handle map 2 mobs and can enter map 2 through the portal in the southwest. Keolloseu is the main city and contains gates that will take you to other maps. As a fighter you will start the game in the town of Beika, in the northwest. As you level you will receive quests, indicated by yellow dots on the world map (which can be viewed by pressing “M”). In this map, though you can complete all the quests, the quests that give gear and items for a fighter will be located mostly on the west side of the map.
Cornwell Ruin, at the far west, is a good leveling place for around level 16-18, depending on mode.
The Cloron dungeon in the southeast is a awesome leveling plus for when you are around level 38. Don’t try to fight in there before then unless with a party. At the bottom level is the Cloron Troll and Cloron Dragon, bosses that drop high level items.
Also located on this map is the first PvP zone, for levels 1-15. Most people there will be level 15 and well-lapised or even nossed, so if you’d like to just go look around, check it out. With a good party PvP can be very fun, but it is mostly a group sport (see the “PvPing” section of this guide for more information).

Willieoseu (Map 2)

If you entered the southwest portal from map 1, you will appear at the farm in the northeast on this map. Arktus Vill is the main city here, with Silveran down south being a close second. You should remain in the upper half of this map from around level 20 to around level 30, when you can start moving south. If you are looking for good exp in the upper 20’s and low 30’s you can try Fedion Dungeon, but beware, the mobs are much harder, though they give more exp. Perhaps one of the more important parts of this map is the first Epic Quest, which will give you a powerful level 25 weapons for free (see the weapon section for details). Once you start getting into the low 30’s you can start heading south to the White Sand Beach area.
There is another special quest located just above the lighthouse at the west middle of the map at level 33. Don’t miss this quest! Complete it and choose the “Bastion of Greed” as your prize to receive a dual weapon that is faster then nearly all others (it has good stats and glows red too, see the weapon section for more information).
Around lvl35 you can either enter map 3 through the portal in the southwest or head to Maitreyan. Again beware, Maitreyan is very difficult, especially solo. Maitreyan is home to the famous legend-armor-dropping boss, Ankylul, and his minions. Silveran has an important quest at level43 that gives a fighter a nice water element 2-hander called the “Elven Aqua Sword”, so make sure to grab this quest if you are leveling your toon past 40 (see the weapon section for more details).
Also in Arktus Vill is the next PvP zone, for levels 20-30 (see the “PvPing” section of this guide for more details).
Furthermore, the lake on the far west is home to Freezing Mirage, a huge dragon boss that, when killed, can drop many high level armors and also opens the portal just south of him that leads to the Cryptic Throne, home of the hardest bosses in the game.

Adellia (Map 3)

If you came from the portal in map 2 you will appear in the far North middle of the map. To your east is Presya, a small town with some quests but that’s about it. The main town to the south is Huigronn, and it has portals to numerous places, including Skulleron (Pandorashys). If you are around level 35 you should head west to the beach, goblins and sealakels are good mobs for you for almost another 5-6 levels which should unlock the next mode for you if you are NM or HM. If you are HM or UM and have lots of aoes, the sealakel beach is an awesome place for aoeing (see the “How to Grind” section for more info on that technique). This map can keep you busy all the way to level 50, Aquilus Tor in the south being the hardest place. If you are interested in leveling your toon further, Pandorashys is a good choice, as is the Jungle and Desert Maps in Karis (see following maps).
The Cave of Stigma in the far northwest is a high level dungeon that has bosses who drop level 5 stat lapises. Level 55 or higher is best for grinding in this location, though you can kill mobs at lower levels.

Skulleron

Most people simply refer to this place as “Pando”. It can be reached through a gatekeeper in Huigronn. The mobs here can easily keep you busy to level 58, but compared to the jungle or desert maps they give low exp. On another note Pando is the home of the famed Lapis Quests. Three times from levels 50-56 you can complete a quest for the reward of a random level 4 or 5 stat lapis, or even a level 6 effect lapis (as far as anyone can tell it is random). When I did mine I received a lvl4 MP lapis, and lvl5 deceive lapis and a lvl6 panic lapis. Pando is the last high-level place without the added danger of PvP and Fury toons involved.

Proelium Borderland (level 1-15 PvP)

The 1-15 PvP zone. It can be reached from the portal near the middle of Keolloseu. There are several quests here but beware of the opposing faction if you intend to complete them. There is a single alter to fight over.

Cantabilian Borderland (level 20-30 PvP)

The 20-30 PvP zone. This zone includes the dungeon of Pharos, an excellent place to level during these levels. Not only is it darkie free, unlike most leveling places in PvP zones, but it also gives nice exp and the boss of the dungeon, Pharos, drops some nice PvP weapons (see the weapons section earlier in this guide for more info). There is one alter here to fight over.

D-Water Borderland (Karis level 1-60 PvP)
This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
The infamous 1-60 PvP zone, this map also has some other great benefits. Level 3 lapises can be farmed in the main map, and level 4 lapises can be farmed in the main dungeon (called D1 and D2). D2 is also very good exp for a high level 40, low level 50 fighter, but the main problem with PvP grinding is that you must always be watching for the opposite faction (see the “PvPing” section of this guide for more information on grinding/PvPing here).
At the bottom of D2 is the only boss in the game that drops Elemental Lapises.

Stable Erde (The Jungle)
This image has been resized. Click to view the full Size Image.
This is the first of two maps that only are accessible based on how many relics in Karis your faction owns. In order to access Stable Erde, the Alliance must own Medius, Flagrans, and Entis. This map is accessible to Fury toons too, but only when they own certain relics. Possession switches back and forth. This map, along with the desert, is the place that drops the famed “Dual Lapises”. The Jungle dinosaurs, crocodiles, and turtles can drop Strength, Wise, and Intelligence dual lapises. These will be green at levels 54-55. The troll mobs can drop level 56 noble, dread, or legend boots. The troll mobs will be green at levels 56-57. The two troll bosses, one in the middle of the water circle to the north and one in the middle peninsula further north, can drop level 58 noble, dread, or legend tops very rarely. These bosses will be green at level 57.

Deep Desert 1 (The Desert)

This is the second of two maps that only are accessible based on how many relics in Karis your faction owns. In order to access Stable Erde, the Alliance must own Medius, Flagrans, and Lucifera. This map is accessible to Fury toons too, but only when they own certain relics. Possession switches back and forth. This map, along with the jungle, is the place that drops the famed “Dual Lapises”. The Desert Larvae, Spiders and Scorpians can drop Strength, Wise, and Intelligence dual lapises. These will be green at levels 54-55. The scorpion boss, in the far south, can drop level 58 noble, dread, or legend pants very rarely. He is very strong, and I would advise not trying to attack him until levels 59 or 60.
In the far west is a portal to the second part of the Desert Map, DD2 (Deep Desert 2).

Deep Desert 2

When you come from Deep Desert 1 you will enter at the top right hand corner. However, you can only exit at the middle east, through the portal. Here reside some small scorpion and caterpillar mobs, along with zombies, plants, and some mini-bosses over near the temple to the west. I would advise not trying to grind here until around level56-58. These mobs drop the fairly useless (and inexpensive) accessory lapis, so some people may prefer the Jungle or Deep Desert 1 for the better drops. One note: the top corner where you enter is raised up in height from the rest of the jungle by a unclimbable (as far as I know) cliff, and is a safe spot to sit without worrying too much about Fury PvPers finding you.

Apulune

This is the shopping district of Shaiya. Once you have entered this area, pressing “B” and choosing “Individual Market” will allow you to make a shop. Dragging items into the shop and setting a price for them will let other players buy stuff from you. Right-clicking on other players with shops and choosing “market” will allow you to view their items, then dragging them to your inventory will allow you to purchase them. Shaiya has it’s own inflations and deflations, and keeping up with them can be a difficult task at best.
If you have set up a shop, your toon is stuck there. You cannot make a shop and then go grind at the same time. Some people make separate accounts and use one computer to set up a shop while the other account grinds. This map, over to the east, is also where you can find the level 51 Helmet (Adamas for fighters) quest (see the “armor” section of this guide for more info).
