Official Information

The avatars that represent the players in Aion are unique beings called Daeva. Considered demigods, the Daeva are hybrids of omnipotent divinity and fragile mortality. Born from mortal beings, the Daeva initially develop as any mortal would. It is important to note that very few mortals ever become a Daeva. It is only through hardship or a significant event that one ascends and awakens their dormant powers within.

Daeva differ from common mortals in that they are able to control the Aether. While it is theoretically possible for mere mortals to control Aether, it would take a tremendous amount of effort and training ??? very few mortals have found success in their attempts. Even those that managed to acquire the skill find their abilities limited or dependant on constructs. It is understood that the Daeva fundamentally hold a place of honor and reverence in the world.

Another significant quality that sets the Daeva apart from mortals is their immortality. When the bodies of mortals are destroyed they are met with death. For a Daeva, the Aether contained within them is used to revive their bodies perpetually. This does come with a price ??? memory loss and fatigue are the only known side affects as the Daeva are ever secretive of this particular ability.

Daeva enjoy a distinct place amongst the different creatures of Aion. They are given exclusive rights as rulers and act as the protectors of mortals from the savage races of the Balaur or the Krall. You will find that mortals will express respect and gratitude to any Daeva who watches over them and protects their kind in battle.As a Daeva you will fight for a just cause, one that brings victory and honour, as you protect those placed under your rule.
