Tralli Hammerfist's Notes
Gives NotesTralli Hammerfist
TextYou should be grateful I've written these notes for you. Not every weaponsmith has the luxury of such a guide, you know -- I certainly didn't! Old M??ni made me learn on my own how to fashion one of these, and the process took me a month, and a long month at that!

Things are different, now. We need as many trained smiths as we can field, and we can't afford the 'leisurely' course with which M??ni trained me. The real test of your skill will be in the assembly, of course! Don't think for a moment that I am giving you too easy a road to walk! Collect these components and fashion them into a Fist of the Dwarves, and I will judge its craftsmanship.

DWARF-STEEL INGOTS

The Fist of the dwarves must be tough and strong, like the real fist of one of Durin's Folk! Look at my fist for inspiration, if you must, and know that this weapon will be more than just a symbol, for it will see service in war. An artisan prospector can refine the dwarf-steel you will need into ingots, for a price. You will need eight of these ingots, but use only six of them for the head of the weapon and set aside two of them for the hilt.

STRONG STEEL HILT
The hilt must be strong, for it will support the main body of the weapon. Only dwarf-steel will be strong enough to serve, and even then you must be careful with the heating of the ingots, or they will develop impurities and pockets of air that will undermine its strength. You will need two ingots for the hilt.

DEEP-IRON NUGGET
Here we come to the last component, friend smith, so pay attention and do not underestimate its importance to the final makeup of the weapon! In the Misty Mountains, dwarves once mined the ridges of Pinnath Fenui, rocky slopes and ledges far to the east of the source of the Bruinen. The goblins have become bolder in recent days and chased some of my friends from their customary mines up on the ridges. During their haste to escape the goblins -- in order to preserve their strength and return to do battle at a later date, you understand -- several good nuggets of deep-iron were left behind. I understand that they dropped from the side of the Pinnath Fenui and came to rest in a small alcove. Its entrance is obscured by a small stand of trees. If you search beneath the ridges of Pinnath Fenui and are careful to avoid tangling with too many goblins, you should be able to recover a deep-iron nugget to use for the fist of the dwarves.

That should be all you will need, if you are a worthy weaponsmith. The rest will be up to you.
