Long before the Great Houses formed the Council of Nobles and the Kurzick nation, Amatz Basin was the site of a fierce battle between the zu Heltzers and the Vasburgs. What they fought over, none can remember, but the fighting took a terrible toll. Even worse (from the Kurzick perspective), thousands of dead were left to rot where they fell. In recent years, the bones of those fallen have begun to resurface, and the Kurzicks blame Urgoz, a corrupted forest spirit, for these ghastly exhumations.
