Unlocking The Job (Must Be Level 30)

Quest Giver: Waoud
Location: Aht Urhgan Whitegate (J-10) 2nd Floor

The quest for unlocking Blue Mage is rather long, here's the run-down:

1. Speak to Waoud and have your fortune read. Waoud will then ask you a series of questions. It's currently unknown that the exact answers are, they seem to be different for everyone. If you answer any questions incorrectly, Waoud will charge you 1000 gil.
2. If you answered the questions correctly, he will then ask you for one of three items:
   1. Valkurm Sunsand: "The treasure I would have you seek is a pinch of golden sand. It is said to glow with the light of the sun and be found only on a certain beach."
   2. Siren's Tear: "The treasure I would have you seek is a jewel. It is said to glow with a bluish tint and be found near the bank of a certain river."
   3. Dangruf Stone: "The treasure I would have you seek is a precious stone. It is said to be as red as blood and found in a land of geysers."
3. Once you've obtained the required item, wait one game day, zone, and talk to Waoud again, telling him that his words have moved you to help him. Then trade him the item.
4. Waoud will then tell you to take the item somewhere else. Keep the item in your inventory to trigger the next cutscene.
5. Zone to Bhaflau Thickets at (H-7) (Behind Sajahb)
6. Enter Aydeewa Subterrane at (I-7)
7. Go to the first large room and off the ledge into a room full of Diremites (careful, they aggro to sound!) Hang a left and go down a steep ramp into a room with leeches and a large pool in the centre at (H-9)
8. Step into the pool for a cutscene, and answer yes to both questions, you will lose the item you had to get earlier.
9. At this point you will recieve the key item: Mark of Zahak, be teleported back to Aht Urhgan Whitegate, and can become a Blue Mage - congratulations!
10. Speak to Waoud once more for a final cutscene (required to start your BLU Artifact quests)

Diffusion	75 (Merit)	60 Seconds or next spell	20 Minutes	Grants the effect of your next support Blue Magic spell to party members within range.

Passive Abilities

About Blue Magic

Learning Blue Magic:

Unlike other schools of magic, Blue Magic has no scrolls, you have to learn it directly from the source - the very creatures of Vana'diel! In other words, if you want to learn Pollen for example, you need to (as blue mage) fight bees over and over again until they use Pollen and once you've defeated it, you have a chance of learning the spell.

Using Blue Magic:

Also unlike the other magic schools, Blue Magic can't be used as soon as it is learned, one must set it to their available spells (this way, a Blue Mage can't use every spell they have). Each Blue Magic spell is worth a certain number of points, and Blue Mages at different levels have varying amounts of points they can allocate to spells, also, Blue Mages at different levels have a maximum amount of spells they can set at a time, requiring a lot of thought to be put into their current magical loadout. The following table describes point/slot totals for Blue Mages:
