Kill the specific pheasant and give him the raw pheasant. He will then tell you that you may leave the area. If you log out at any time before leaving the area, you will have to get him another pheasant. If you give him the raw pheasant from a pheasant with the wrong number of tails, after you leave the area, he will tell you that you don't get a reward for giving him the incorrect pheasant and you will be teleported to another area.
