For those new to MMORPGs you will learn more about what a macro is, how they're useful, and more. Macros are a way to quickly execute commands rather than having to type it out or select an option from a menu. This will give the advantage to players to execute commands at the exact time they want instead of hurrying through their menus or typing speed. Macros are pretty simple to setup in FF XI.

To setup up some you will need to access the macros from the main menu. You will then see a bunch of boxes for different macros. To access another set of macros (Pages) you can just hold the 'Control' or 'Alt' key and press up or down with the arrow keys. There's a total of 10 pages of macros, which allows you to store up to 120 macros, rather than just 12. That way, you don't have to constantly change your macros, but rather you can store a page for each occasion. Now, just click on one of the boxes you want to alter. The first line is for the name of the macros. The rest of the lines are for the commands. Just select OK when you are finished setting up your macros and you will be done.

Basic macros setup:

Weapons ability
/ws "Red Lotus Blade" <t>

This command will release the sword weapon skill Red Lotus Blade on a targeted enemy.

Note: You can do without the <t> (target) since most of the time in battle you are already targeting the monster so /ws "Red Lotus Blade" is just as fine.

Magic ability
/ma "Cure II" <me>

This command will automatically target yourself and cure you.

/ma "Cure II" <t>

This command will cure the targeted player or enemy.

/ma "Cure II" Dan

This command will cure a player name Dan.

Job ability
/ja "Provoke" <t>
/wait 30
/p Provoke is Back.

This command will execute the warrior job ability Provoke and the waits for the next command for 30 seconds. When 30 seconds has gone by it will send a message to the party saying that your provoke is back.

There are many others you can make especially for your character. Just experiment and see which macros commands will work for you. Using macros will become essential at the higher level when trying to time your skillchains, and doing other various activities in a large group. So, get out there and start writing some macros!
