Introduction:
It seems that nowadays that a Runescaper's number one goal is obtaining a skillcape. They're all over the place, too: Capes from Agility to Questpoints, the Cape of Achievement is like a trophy to prove your skills and dedication. But managing to even get one is always the catch - 99 is a high level. Something this can take months, and the less money you have, possibly years.
The Skillcape, or as it was originally named, Cape Of Accomplishment, is a true accomplishment to be proud of. Many players have achieved these, and although it may look pretty easy to get when you begin, it takes a long time, and gets boring very often, making it harder to resist the temptation of quitting your goal to go off and do something else. It's very hard to get a skillcape, it's certainly not a breeze. One day you may find yourself gaining 100k xp per hour then the next day you might be doing half of that. It's challenging, but in the end, the reward is a trophy of your excellence and experience in that certain skill (or quests), the Cape of Accomplishment.
Hopefully at the end of this guide, you'll have a better understanding of skillcapes.
Skillcapes:
You need a level of 99 to obtain a skillcape (obviously), and once worn, they give a temparary 1 level boost (to 100) to the certain skill. They can be obtained from various places, described below. Also remember that you need to pay a fee of 99,000 GP (99 K gp) to buy the cape from the master. Some capes, such as the Ranged cape or Fletching cape, must be bought from the store which the Skillmaster owns. Also, while wearing the skillcape, you have the ability to perform an emote, depending on which skillcape you have. When you finally get your skill to 99, you will get a message saying perhaps you should visit the skillcape master to obtain your new skillcape.Lastly if you lose your skillcape simply speak to the skillcape master to obtain another, for the price again of 99,000 GP (99 K gp).
Trimmed Skillcapes:
Skillcapes can also be trimmed. However, for them to be trimmed, you need to have at least 2 level 99 skills. Once you buy your second skillcape, your other skillcape(s) and your new one will auto-trim themselves, giving a more decent look to them. After you have more than 2 skillcapes, the rest of the capes you buy will auto-trim themselves also. As an extra bonus, you get +4 Prayer bonus.

Quest Point Cape:
You need to have completed every quest that is currently available, both F2P and P2P. This makes it a bit difficult, since Jagex puts out new quests on a monthly basis. The Quest Point Cape and hood will become unwearable until you have completed the lastest quest. Once you have all quests completed, speak to the Wise Old Man at his house in Draynor village to get it for 99,000gp (99 K gp). If you lose it you must pay for a new one. However if you dropped it out of your inventory when new quest came out while you were offline, you can simply speak to The Wise Old Man again to obtain another.
Note that the Quest point cape cannot be trimmed.
Stats:
You didn't think that they were all just for looks, did you? These capes also carry some defence bonuses. Trimmed skillcapes provide you with a +4 Prayer bonus. However the hood carries no bonuses and is simply for show.
| Skillcape | Bonuses |
| Untrimmed | Attack: Stab +0, Slash +0, Crush +0, Magic +0, Range +0 Defence: Stab +9, Slash +,9 Crush +9, Magic +9, Range +9, Summoning +9 Other: Strength +0, Prayer +0 |
| Trimmed | Attack: Stab +0, Slash +0, Crush +0, Magic +0, Range +0 Defence: Stab +9, Slash +,9 Crush +9, Magic +9, Range +9, Summoning +9 Other: Strength +0, Prayer +4 |
Emotes:
Aswell of all the other aspects of the skillcape, it also carries the ability for the wearer to perform an emote, 1 per skillcape. To access this emote simply go to your emotes screen and click the "Skillcape-emote".
