The Mole

The Giant Mole was released on March 7, 2006. It is very useful to players who want seeds or bird nests. It is a fearsome level 230, but it fights like a brutal level 100.
The monster can be found in caves beneath the park in Falador. Take a light source and a spade to Falador park, stand on a mole hill, and then dig to enter the caves. The Giant Mole respawns in the center of the dungeon.
The mole tends to attack the weakest person in the room the most. It can hit up to 23 damage too, making it a formidable opponent. When you are in combat and the Giant Mole is losing, it will flee by digging away. There are 12 places where he can dig up, shown later on in this guide on the map. When it is low on health it will flee faster than when it is close to full hitpoints.
The Cave
You can get into the cave by digging on a mole hill in Falador Park.
If you don't have a light source, your character will not go in. To get out of the caves, go to the far south. There you will see a room with a little lake in the center. Cross the stepping stones and climb the rope and you will appear at Falador's well.

The Battle
Items Needed
A light source, a tinderbox (not needed when you have a Bullseye lantern), a spade, some food, some prayer potions, and the best dragonhide armour you can wear (or other lightweight armour). You can also bring energy, attack, strength, and defence potions and some way to teleport out.
Here are some examples of what you should bring:

Defence
The attacks are easy to avoid since the mole only uses melee attacks. When you are attacked, however, some prayer is advised, unless you have high defence.
Attack
The Giant Mole's hide has very good magic defence, and pretty good melee protection, making ranged the best attack to use when fighting it. You can attack it from a little ways off, and you can also hit it hard, fast, and accurately at the same time.
Note: Don't use Dwarf cannons, they cannot hit the Mole.
The Strategy
As you can see on the above map, the Giant Mole digs up near every end of the cave. Killing it alone is very difficult since it always burrows away from you. The best way to defeat it is to bring some friends to guard the spawn points. Don't have them follow you, since it will only waste a lot of energy.
One group of people should guard the central respawn point, while the other people should guard various spawning points. Once the mole digs to one of them then the player guarding it can fight it. When it flees, another teammate will be ready at a different spawn.
The person who gets the drop isn't always the group in the center, its pretty much a game of luck on whether or not the Giant Mole will dig up near you or not.
The Rewards
The Giant Mole will drop its claw and 1-3 pieces of Mole hide when it dies. You can swap these for Wyson the gardener's bird's nests in the eastern part of Falador Park. The Giant Mole also drops fire runes (105), air runes (105), blood runes (15), law runes (15), death runes (7), iron arrows (690), yew logs (100 noted), iron ores (50 or 100 noted), mithril bars, mithril axes (hatchets), mithril platebodys, adamant longswords, rune med helms, rune 2-h swords, rune battleaxes, half of a key, uncut gems, amulet of strength, shark (4), or nothing.
Nest Rewards
If you manage to get your hands on a piece of the Giant Mole, you can swap it with Wyson the gardener for his bird nests.
Here are the items found in bird nests:
Allotment
Potato seeds (14), Onion seeds (11), Cabbage seeds (9), Tomato seeds (6), Sweetcorn seeds (3), Limpwurt seeds (2), Strawberry seeds (3), Ranarr seed (1), Watermelon seeds (2)
