They reported that they were under attack by unidentified craft which refused to reply to their attempts at communication. Soon afterwards the transmission was cut off, and we haven't heard from them since.
Normally I would send a reconnaissance mission to the last known location of the convoy and scout the area before attempting any further action, but this situation is different. The convoy that was destroyed was carrying a very valuable artifact which must be retrieved at all cost. It is sealed in a booby-trapped special delivery package.
