DescriptionThis is the second Eastern Excavation quest, and is given by Jan Falner in the Ruins of Threnal.

The objective is to escort Coyle Lovell to the Library of Threnal. Basthuul is in the library and must be slain when you arrive. You can gain optional experience for escorting his comrades there, as well. But we recommend that you do not speak to them until you have already cleared a path.

Just a ways in you come across Warforged Death Priests. These must be killed as soon as possible. They wil curse and debuff your party to the state of uselessness. Not far past them are Huge Rust Monsters, and by this point you probably don't need to be told that they can corrode metal gear. Just past them is the first rest shrine.

After resting you should put up any type of protection to fire or cold that you may have. From here you must proceed to the Library, and this is guarded by not only Rust Monsters but air and fire mephits. The traps are in the same location as in the previous quest, just before the library. This is where you must drop off the NPCs, though the library itself is locked. Upon doing so some fire mephits will spawn, do not let them kill the NPCs.

Your goal is to now unlock the library doors so that you may venture inside and slay Basthuul. The door is opened by hitting switches in corridors to the north and south. The moment the door opens Bashtuul will charge Coyle and friends, and he must not be allowed to kill them. We recommend that you clear to the switches and then have a single person flip them while the rest of the party waits at the door to defeat Basthuul. After defeating him the mission is complete.
